New Roosmarijn self-catering and Rooms — Hotel in Saldanha Bay Local Municipality

My husband and I recently celebrated a marriage milestone by taking a weekend off in Paternoster. I booked via the Bargain Buys (BB) website (also worth a look if you are not aware of this site) and hence we ended up at Roosmarijn Guesthouse (I mean how does one choose when the selection of places to stay in Paternoster has probably reached the ridiculous level). What a TREAT!!! I am so glad that BB introduced us to Tertius and Roosmarijn. First of all Tertius is a fantastic host ... he is friendly and “real” and happy to help you make your time in Paternoster as amazing or as chilled as you would like. As an example, instead of providing breakfast in the confines of his dining room, you are provided with a voucher to Mondvol, a barn-type coffee shop with the most delicious food and stunning views from the “stoep”. (I almost went on a tangent about Mondvol 🙈 ... I do love community economy though) and Tertius did all our dinner bookings for us before we had even arrived. Regarding his guesthouse, his rooms are spacious, yet cosy, with one’s own fireplace. Seriously, your own wood burning fireplace. How stunning! You also get your own private balcony ... and ours had a sea view (we definitely recommend Room 205). The en-suite was also a lovely size and the shower provided hot water at a really decent pressure. The guesthouse is a couple of meters from the beach, with direct access down a short path. This means you can go right for a nice long morning/evening walk along the beach or left to head to Voorstrand or Gaaitjie Restaurants. Tertius doesn’t live on site, which I personally preferred as one doesn’t then feel like one is a visitor in someone else’s home. Our one-night stay was very pleasant, but for being woken up by the noisy people in the room next-door, shouting on the landing, and the latte screen on the balcony providing insufficient privacy from them the next morning. Tertius, please ensure that your cleaners pay more attention behind the bedside tables, and the door handle that was falling apart. Otherwise the room was very light and airy, and the bed very comfortable. The owner provided us with incredible service throughout our stay. ||After we had checked out and had been around town for over an hour we realised we had forgotten some personal items. We phoned to confirm they were still there and he insisted on driving out to meet us to drop off our items.||||Aside from the incredible service the room was private and very relaxing.
