Magnolia Place — Hotel in Stellenbosch Local Municipality

Magnolia Place fulfill in the purpose of my visit to Stellenbosch 😁. I needed a clean, affordable place to overnight when I fetched my daughter from the University. Previously, I stayed in the CBD, but found the prices inflated.⬆️ This time I thought I would take my chances, stay out of the CBD and pay less. Magnolia Place is conveniently located 500 m from a little 🛒 mall and a medical centre. Walking distance. Victoria Street (where most of the hostels are) and Merriman Street is about 4 km away.

🅿Parking is on the premises and secure 🔐 , the room was reached through a single entrance door into a foyer that splits to a second floor. Upstairs is a communal kitchen for the rooms in that section. The fridge, kettle, stove, toaster, serves that area. The room has an en suite bathroom (🚿 and 🚻) , TV, air conditioning (ask for the remote when checking in), ceiling fan and a portable electric fan. The WiFi was also fast and the signal strong

Some people in there reviews complained about tired bedding and towels. I found the linen and towels acceptable.

If I have to fault them on something: no hairdryers in the room. I asked for one, and was promised one, but none arrived. There is a clear notice warning about mosquito's. I closed the windows early, but one still manage to get in. It wasn't very pleasant to found out at 02:00 in the morning that the Doom aerosol can was empty. 😬

I will certainly stay here again. At ⅓ of the price I paid when I stayed in the CBD, this was excellent value for money.

I booked the one bedroom apartment in September 2021. Upon arrival, we were told the apartment was not available because they had double booked. Later we found out that they had put other people in the apartment because they were staying longer even though we had booked the apartment first. We were then moved to another property where we were given two separate bedrooms in a house. This place was more like a hostel accommodation than the apartment we had originally booked. It did not feel safe and inviting like the first place. We had booked for two nights but only stayed for the one, this is due to the fact that we did not get what we were promised, we did not feel safe or welcome and the family was split into two separate rooms. The rooms were meant to come with a hairdryer but this did not work and neither did the wall plugs. We were promised our money back for the one night that we did not stay but they never gave it back. The staff were unfriendly and did not want to help us with our situation, they felt that things should be left up to the owner. The owner is never available to speak to and the staff refuse to give contact details for them.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Magnolia Place, and I cannot express enough gratitude for the wonderful experience. The accommodations were clean, comfortable, and beautifully decorated, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The staff were attentive and always ready to assist with any request, making our stay truly enjoyable.

I would like to extend a special thank you to the Dawson family for their incredible honesty and kindness. During our stay, I accidentally left my wallet behind, and the Dawson family not only found it but also made sure that all my belongings were intact. Their actions saved me from a great deal of stress and inconvenience, and I am deeply grateful for their honesty and generosity.
