A disappointing experience as a parent at Ya-Ya Cafe. I have been visiting Ya-Ya for years and have always enjoyed this little cosy cafe so much so that and have been bringing my daughter there since she was a week old! However, my experience visiting today has unfortunately soured our opinion on Ya-Ya Cafe.
I phoned ahead the day before to enquire as to whether the cafe had highchairs which was confirmed and I accordingly booked a table for our visit and requested a note be made on the booking requesting a high chair be reserved. When I arrived and requested my booking stating the party size and the high chair request I was laughed at by the waiter who greeted me saying that they did not have high chairs. I explained that I had phoned ahead, that the person on the phone had confirmed that they had these facilities. I was then laughed at again and the waiter let me know that he had been working there for seven years and in this whole time the cafe has never had high chairs.
There was no apology for the incorrect information being provided or an explanation as to how this may have happened. Further, there was no solution offered, the same "we do not have high chairs" was simply repeated to me again and again. This interaction was very disappointing in addition to the fact that such a well-known establishment makes absolutely no effort to cater for its guests who have children.
It is a shame that our family will now have to find another cafe to frequent as Ya-Ya Cafe does not cater for families with children and further makes their customers feel completely unheard when...
Read moreI visited your establishment for the 3rd time you food is extremely tasty and the ladies and gentleman that work the are extremely helpful and take pride in their work. When I arrived it was packed I than requested the waiter for a waiting room and he advised me to the furniture shop you have in store I met an old lady wearing a navy top and pants and she advised me that I can’t sit there, I respected that and fully understood but a few minutes later 3 young guys went inside the same shop and were sitting on the chairs. The last straw of it all was when I was done having my main course and was waiting to digest the nice food I just had so wanted everything to go down and order a slice of carrot cake I was told not In so many words to stand and leave as I was done eating and that she is running business here so I can’t just sit I need leave. I’m honestly disgusted by this woman’s respect the were so many people that were done eating and chatting but she was just on my case today. Sorry to say she doesn’t fit the Yaya Standard and if she is the owner of the place I am utterly disgusted in her attitude towards me and maybe other people that have been treated the...
Read moreYa ya ya ya.. Sat at a table 5 meters from the "manager" who was reprimanding an employee. Now I assume he was a manager as surely an owner would not do that so the restaurants guests would hear him
When he was finished his mother said something to him so he then reprimanded her and that again was so loud I heard him again. Well that was too much for me as I was hoping to have a relaxing lunch eating a Moroccan wrap. So I asked him to give it a rest as he was spoiling my experience there. He was not happy about that at all. Clearly the customer is not that important to him.
He then turned to his mother and again as loud as he could told her I shouldn't be listening to him. Well that was a little difficult as he was speaking so loudly he spoiled the experience and I will not be back
Hopefully he reads this and learns from the feed back but I doubt it
Anyway I will not be back and I always try to find the best in any restaurant I go to but he certainly there is nothing to celebrate about his attitude.
However the waitress was and did the best under difficult circumstances and we...
