Don Gelato — Restaurant in Alaior

I was very disappointed with the ice cream.

I've been coming for several years and it's getting worse and worse in terms of quality / price. It is also the only ice cream shop where there are 5 sizes of cups that I have seen in all my life... (this testifies to the economic and stingy spirit).

It's a shame that the ice creams are less and less good, greedy, generous and made with love / passion.

The cookie ice cream was bland with poor quality and low quantity chocolate. The banana ice cream which I'm a big fan of in general was very disappointing - it tasted chemical/banana candy. = Maybe the other flavors are better and I haven't had any chance…

Finally, the spoons are made of PLA, so it's plastic and the term "compostable" is misleading... can do better for the planet.

I hope this glacier / ice cream shop will improve because it has a beautiful location and everything to succeed…

Following the unpleasant response from the owner, here is a comparative update:

the banana ice cream from one of the famous ice cream shop in Es Castell is 10x better with a super good artisanal cone. the "cookie 2.0" ice cream found in an artisanal ice cream shop in Fornells is 100x better. = the 2 glaciers are cheaper (quantity / price) and...

Went for gelato here which was lovely and saw they did pizza so came back the next day for that. However we ordered a vegetarian pizza that came out with anchovies on, we definitely wouldn’t have ordered as I’m allergic. I asked them for a replacement as I can’t eat it, assumed they would have however when we got back home realised all they had done was pick off the anchovies (badly) and cover it in oregano to try and disguise this. I rang to explain and ask why they had done this, they insisted my boyfriend ordered anchovies which considering my allergy and his vegetarianism we definitely didn’t. Then hung up on me. Terrible customer service, I understand people make mistakes potentially our accent, but their reaction...

A cena con la mia fidanzata questa sera e sono rimasto DAVVERO DELUSO… è prima volta che a Minorca mi sono trovato in una situazione così IMBARAZZANTE e mi dispiace ammettere che ho avuto a che fare con un italiano come me. La stagione giunge al termine, la stanchezza si fa sicuramente sentire, ma un ragazzino di 20 anni che risponde in modo arrogante ad una coppia di clienti, con la presenza dei suoi genitori titolari dell’attività, è davvero irrispettoso e da NON TORNARCI MAI PIÙ .

In sostanza è la terza volta che ci presentiamo in questo locale, mi arriva una birra alla spina da mezzo litro, con bicchiere CALDO, birra non sicuramente a temperatura gradevole dato che viene anche servita, giustamente, prima delle pietanze… la rimando indietro gentilmente esponendo il problema:

il figlio (molto giovane e davvero poco brillante) in modo davvero impacciato mi domanda se ci volessi dentro del GHIACCIO (SI, DEL GHIACCIO, nel boccale di birra…………)….io declino l’offerta e mi accontento senza problemi delle birre in bottiglia servite FREDDE, con bicchiere FREDDO, come va servita la birra !!!!!!!!

ARRIVIAMO AL CONTO E CI TROVO DENTRO SEGNATA LA BIRRA 4.50€… alla mia domanda del perché la stessi pagando nonostante l’avessi rimandata indietro perché non a temperatura di servizio, lui ha letteralmente sbottato, rispondendoci male e alludendo al fatto che tutti gli italiani sono così e che volessimo, diceva proprio così, “fregarli” ma in modo volgare… Rispondo che è la terza volta che ci presentiamo e che paghiamo regolarmente il conto senza MAI aver preteso sconti o favori, semplicemente chiedevo di non pagare una consumazione non goduta per la birra servita tiepida… ci lancia i 5€ sul bancone e continua a rispondere male nonostante il padre cercasse di calmarlo… Lasciamo i 5€ sul bancone ed alla fine spero tanto che suo padre gli dia qualche consiglio su come si trattano i clienti… così MALE MALE MALE, DOVREBBE guardarsi allo specchio e VERGOGNARSI.
