We had what can only be described as a truly awful experience at this hotel. Upon check in the staff were very friendly and helpful but made no mention of the mould in the building.
Upon entering our room for the first time we were confronted with what can only be described as a rancid smell, it was quite clear the hotel had a huge mould problem. The putrid smell was so strong as to make us feel physically ill. We immediately checked online and found the hotel fully booked so figured we would have to put up with it. This meant that we needed to leave all windows open at all times which in the cordoba heat meant letting the 42 degree hot winds into our room. This made sleeping unbearable and uncomfortable.
Further to this there were some additional minor issues, such as the fact that all street noises could be easily heard in the bedroom even after closing the windows late at night to try and sleep. The towel rail was positioned directly above the bidet. The glass shelf in the shower was placed at eye level in a quite dangerous position instead of in a corner of the shower that was out of the way. The provided table was so tiny as to be completely useless, barely wider than my open hand.
At 7am on the Monday morning we were woken by the sound of extremely loud machinery and tools. When talking to the workmen they informed us they had been booked for the urgent repair of the mould that was throughout the building. When speaking to reception they commented that they were well aware of the issue. Because we made the booking through booking.com they were unable to offer a refund and instead offered us a free breakfast which I felt was honestly offensive.
We feel that the property was not as advertised and the mould issue was so bad as to be a serious health risk. My wife has left feeling unwell with allergies and I’ve had a headache for 24 hours.
(Edit) I am just updating my review to reflect on the fact the hotels reply has made no mention of the awful smell of mould throughout the building which is our main concern. It was absolutely awful
(Edit 2). Further to update this. When checking out the reception staff advised us that they would happily offer a discount but because we had used booking.com they were unable to. We tool them at their word and then followed this up as advised. Booking.com have advised us that the property is now refusing any refund, which is the opposite of what the property told us. Stay away from these guys, they are completely dishonest and talking out of both sides of their mouth here. Facts are they admitted to the mold issue, arranged urgent repairs and made no mention of this until we complained and the smell of mold can be best described as that of a rotting corpse...

Read moreMay 22nd, 2025 update: honestly i’m pretty shock at the hotel’s reply…
I didn’t come with a partner, i visited with my family and the person is a SHE. My family also couldn’t speak English nor Spanish, so I don’t even know which language she was able to shout at…. We didn’t shout nor change room, we were okay at the room we got and stay through our booking. We stayed at 101. We understand this is two star and did not complain any of the amenities. We were simply pointing out to be aware of receptionist attitude. I didn’t say it’s bad, which I didn’t even notice till I see the different treatment to other guests when checking out.
A last shout out to the cleaning staff that he was very kind to guide us to room 101 when we were looking for it.
unlike other reviews, i didn’t get any of the staffs names, so i’d like to urge other ASIAN travelers to be aware of this attitude discrepancy.
At first i thought the attitude was the reception staffs being tired at their job. Yet, when i was checking out i found this is not the case.
While the receptionist still fulfilled my requests to store luggage and call taxi, i realized the attitude difference while i was standing there, watching him bidding farewell to another couple and happily reminding them of the staffs names while asking them to leave good reviews.
Then when the couple left, he turned on his attitude while having minimal eye contact.
The only pro of the place is its location being close to the church. For the room, you simply get what you paid for since this is only two stars.
For sensitive travelers, the rooms has a smell, but your nose...
