Balneari Broquetas — Hotel in Caldes de Montbui

Starting this review by highlighting this review is not to shame the hotel, but to notify anyone who wishes to travel & sight see in Barcelona.. that this hotel is over an hour by public transport to the main parts of the city.||TRAVEL: to get to the main city I recommend downloading the "Rome2rio" app, this was amazing at telling us which buses, trains & where bus stops are, even the estimated price. The local bus station which is 10-15min walk from the hotel and has buses every 30minutes or so. Taking the 201/202 bus on the E9 route will get you onto the main road in Barca for €4 one way, per person. Stopping outside La Sagara station will allow you to travel by metro/TMT lines to any destination. We walked most places if you are up for that, using the app mentioned.||The hotel itself has a wonderful heated pool with sun beds, it also offers breakfast/lunch buffet/ dinner. This is over £20 per person though however per meal, per person. My rating would of been higher however the hotel walls are like paper, you can hear everyone and everything from inside. My partner can fall asleep to anything but the noise kept us both awake. As the hotel is quite far my Barcelona we needed a taxi to the airport, we used the "mytaxi" app which is basically Uber in Spain! Very good app.||The hotel is set in a beautiful little village, which has a high street of a few shops including a small supermarket. There are few restaurants but the ones which there are only a 5 min walk are pleasant. I recommend not staying here if you want to only see Barcelona as you will be restricted by times of buses if you aren't up for paying between €30-80 one...

The booking experience was catastrophic (see below). But the style of the building, the heated indoor / outdoor pool, the parc, the room, the bathroom speak for themselves.

Dinner was ok. On the plus: 3 courses, water included. Starters tasty. The so called "hamburger" consisted in 2 flat steaks of "beef taste meet", other dishes were on the +. On the minus: desserts are from brake / Sysco, the king of frozen food.

Breakfast was a little below my "12€" expectations, mainly because of missing eggs and powder juices.

Overall great price / quality ratio.

Area for improvement: there should be specific zones to "hide" smokers: restaurant terrace can't be used because of all smokers around. Unless you enjoy a smoky breakfast of course!

Another one would be to translate the restaurant menu in a few European languages Google translate get mixed because of Spanish and Catalonian language on the same board, therefore translation is hard.

Phone reception did not speak English. WhatsApp answers sporadically.

Reservation 130€ was cancelled.

Second reservation placed 3 minutes after cancellation 121€ with discount code from newsletter never went through: "please wait".

Standard Rooms apparently not available on the phone but available on Booking.com...

Helpless staff cannot reactivate reservation. Cannot apply discounted price from their own discount code.

Ended up reserving on Booking.com. Probably they enjoy paying commissions?

Beautiful building, well maintained, lovely staff. We were hosted by Rosa (reception desk) and Luis (spa). They couldn't be nicer. Luis was as a pleasant surprise as the 'treatments' themselves. They're called 'treatments' and there are loads of different ones to choose from. We went in for 3 distinct ones. The first, a pleasant bath in a large chromatic whirlpool located in a beautiful room. They dim the lights so the only lights you get are from the pool itself. Sooooo relaxing! Then I went to the water bed, a beautiful room with a double marble bath with jets everywhere you could imagine. My husband went into the jacuzzi and both of them were like having a light massage with water. We had our 2 year old with us and she was able to go into the chromatic pool. She loved all the bubbles! It was an all around great experience. There is a hotel at the location and it gave me a great impression. Beautiful well kept garden, heated pool, continental breakfast, nice restaurant... Next time we'll make a...
