We stayed at H10 Casa del Mar from 21 June to 1 July as a family of three with one child. Overall, it was a good holiday in a great location, but there are definitely some inconsistencies that hold this hotel back from being a true four-star experience.
Communal Areas & First Impressions The communal areas of the hotel are stylish, clean, and modern. It’s clear the hotel has invested in high-quality fixtures and fittings throughout. That said, the overall finish sometimes lets things down — for example, gaps in flooring and door frames or decking around the pool beginning to fail and lift, which felt unsafe, especially for kids.
Rooms & Comfort Our first room was a "superior" category, but we asked to move due to several issues: the shower tray was unlevel and leaked, the single beds kept separating (which made sleep uncomfortable), and we had a supposed "side sea view" with no view of the sea whatsoever. High-end fixtures were let down by poor installation.
We were moved to another room of the same category, which was much better — it had a pool view, was more comfortable, and better maintained. However, even in this room, the beds were still singles pushed together, which was a bit annoying for a couple.
Food & Drink The restaurant was a highlight. Breakfast had a good range of hot food and fresh fruits. That said, it did struggle at peak times — cups were often in short supply, and the juice was from cartons and diluted through a machine. Coffee at breakfast was particularly poor: cappuccinos were oddly chocolate-flavored, and the milk was frequently missing from the machine when selecting white coffee.
Lunch and dinner were good, and the club sandwich from the bar was great. The restaurant staff were consistently friendly and helpful.
Pool & Facilities The hotel pool itself is nice, but as mentioned, the decking around it is in disrepair in multiple places, which is a safety concern. The biggest frustration, however, was the sunbed situation. Despite having a lifeguard on duty, no effort was made to stop people from reserving loungers all day with towels. By mid-morning, it was almost impossible to get a sunbed, which shouldn’t happen at a hotel marketed as four-star.
The lift broke during our stay, trapping guests inside, and the electronic gate to the car park also failed — which meant we couldn’t park until it was fixed. There was also a brief power cut one night around 2am.
Other Observations It feels like there are two sides to this hotel — the main building, which is clearly nicer and more modern, and a secondary section that doesn’t quite match up in quality. Some external cladding on the building also looked like it was coming loose, which affected the general impression of upkeep.
Birds were nesting above some private balconies, and we found bird droppings on our terrace floor most days — not ideal if you want to sit out.
The kids' activities were nice — short drawing sessions and evening mini-discos — but they’re quite limited (30 minutes or so). Still, our child enjoyed them.
Wi-Fi was patchy and inconsistent during our stay, which might be frustrating if you rely on it.
Staff & Service Most of the staff were friendly and professional — especially in the restaurant. Housekeeping was very good — our room was always cleaned well and on time. Check-in was fairly smooth, though the towel voucher system feels a bit designed to make guests forget to claim their towel deposit.
Final Thoughts The hotel is in a fantastic beachfront location, with easy access to supermarkets and local amenities. It's stylish, clean in most areas, and has the potential to be excellent — but inconsistent maintenance, room issues, and poor sunbed management...
Read moreStaff - couldn't fault the friendliness and helpfulness of all staff including the cleaners, lifeguard, reception staff and restaurant staff. In particular the activities/entertainment guy was super friendly, especially with our little one 🙂
Food - breakfast was topnotch, cava/prosecco even available free of charge on the buffet if you fancy a mimosa for breakfast! Loads of choice, all good quality. Evening buffet was also good, not loads in terms of quantity but a lot of variety and something different every night, as well as some staples for the more picky eaters / children (chips, pasta etc).
Facilities - small but pleasant spa area with sauna and steam room, as well as a gym and heated pool. Can imagine this might get busy in peak times but was fine when we were there (Easter). Outdoor pool was not heated so chilly during April, but lots of shallow area for little ones to plodge about in. Pool area itself was nicely decked and not slippy tiles like you sometimes find. Also good quality loungers. We always found some available no matter what time of day we went to the pool. Rooftop pool is also unheated but a nice chill out space. Lovely view of the sunset from up there too. Couldn't comment on the pool/roof bars as were both closed during off peak, but the main bar was well stocked and we found the prices fairly reasonable for a hotel bar.
Entertainment - as mentioned we visited off peak but we had entertainment on all but one day. Of particular note was the evening quiz which got quite competitive, but was worth it at least for the winning team who were rewarded with a jug of sangria / beer (of their choice). Brush up on your general knowledge if you want to be in with a chance of winning!
Location - well located in Santa Ponsa itself for a short walk to either side of the main bay, or indeed the beach itself. Close to the main bus stop which makes it accessible to other parts of Mallorca too. Good array of shops and restaurants nearby selling everything you might need, at reasonable prices.
Cleanliness - really the only complaint of our stay. The rooms and corridors weren't cleaned quite to the standard I would usually expect for a 4 star hotel with hair and dust in the bathroom, dusty surfaces in the bedroom, stains on bedsheets. Around the hotel itself, including the pool area, spa, restaurant etc. the cleaning seemed...
Read moreBooked this hotel as looked great in yhe brochure. Food in restaurant (more like a canteen) in 2 weeks we had 3 hot meals. Picked BBQ ribs one night, they were cold. Everything we had was just Luke warm. Food was also very greasy. Was told by a waiter when I requested a fork to ask someone else. Any water in restaurant on an evening you had to ask for, it came in a small bottle (just enough for 2 wine glasses only half full) which you had to buy. Waiters leant ovr us when taking plates from table, dirty fork fell off plate onto me a one point. Breakfast time was a joke. If you want toast, be prepared to put it through at least 6 times, it then comes out as crispy stale bread. Stand in queue to ask for fried eggs, bacon cold and greasy, they can't seem to do fried and omelette at the same time even though there were two griddles. Beans you had to find in the amount of liquid, also just tepid. Yoghurt if you like plain you will be OK, hardly ever had fruit flavoured. Fresh fruit was ok. Cakes were good on an evening. |No pool bar, but there is a lobby bar. Filled my own reusable water up, and was shouted at by a bar person that I was not allowed to have the water unless I buy one of their bottles for €6.50. |No entertainment at all, unless you wanted to do excersise, pilates, stretching, keep fit. When we asked we were told there is a DJ on the roof 2 nights a week. Tried it and was for the youngsters. Pictures of the food shown on the hotel site look amazing, however it's not served in the restaurant it's only the front bar where non residents eat. |We had one of the refurbished rooms, quite small, however the bathroom had a very heavy sliding door which had a gap so big you could sit on the toilet and see in the room. Towels were changed when requested, but twice we had towels with stains on, and quite threadbare. |Hotel is situated just accross the road from the beach and pool area was nice with no loud music booming out. We didn't have a problem getting a sun bed and we went on 30th August for 2 weeks. |Would we go back or recommend this...
