We were recommended to book the Marina Apartments in Port of Pollenza but tried looking that up on Tripadvisor but the only Marina Apartments that we found listed was in Palmavova. There were some good reviews so we booked it.|We arrived late on a Saturday night, it had been raining all day. We phoned the proprietor Alberto from the Airport and he met us when our transfer (Urbis) dropped us off. Alberto was very welcoming and checked us in to our 2nd floor (top) apartment with a great view over the bay. It looked impressive but it was 11.30 at night could only see the twinkling lights. As were were starving he recommended that we went to Macdonalds as that would be open at that time. |We walked to Macdonalds by leaving the Apartment block onto Carrer Germans Montcada turning left and then down a steep lane to the main road and promenade. It was wet dark and the shutters were down on the shops and lots of graffiti and frankly we felt uncomfortable and wondered if we had made a mistake.|We returned to the apartment and decided to use the seaward of the 2 twin rooms. It was quit chilly so we put the warm air heating on which was efficient and quiet. (Think it is a heat pump which does cooling as well). The twin beds were very comfortable.|In the morning we needed to go out for supplies as we only had some bottled water. There were no basic supplies in the kitchen like salt and pepper, coffee, sugar, oil. We were surprised by this but have previously rented villas where they are used by the owners. The local Spar supermarket is quite close but we had to walk back up the hill which was not good for my wife’s asthma. The apartment is very sparsely equipped. Yes there is a corkscrew, small kettle, toaster, juicer, coffee percolator and 3 kitchen knives and some other cutlery BUT it lacked simple things like a jug for milk, small bowls for nibbles and storage containers.|There is good WiFi in the apartment and a tv but no BBC service. |The balcony has a table and 4 chairs and a clothes aired.|There is no washing machine and mop and bucket and broom are stored in the bathroom. This has a small bath with shower over, a basin, a bidet, and WC. |The block has 5 floors with the main entrance in the middle. If you go down to the bottom floor you will find the private pool area which is equipped with sunloungers a rather dilapidated Poole table and a table tennis table with bats and ball. The pool itself was well maintained and spotlessly clean and very inviting! The only downside is that it is not heated and in April it was quite cold. Nevertheless I swam a few lengths. The block is served by a small Otis lift. Near the lift on the pool level there are ladies and gents WCs which are well appointed. |On the entrance level ther is some tourist information and a small library with a selection of mostly English and...
Read moreGroup of men, late 40s and early 50s, off to Palmanova for our annual trip away from it all. We always look for somewhere simple and relatively inexpensive as we're not that fussy! As long as it's clean, has a bed and a shower and plenty of space, we're happy. And we were definitely happy with the facilities. Some like a long by the pool, but this year we all just went to the beach instead as to be honest the pool area needs spruced up a little. The other slight oddity with this place is its lack of 24 hour reception, which makes check-in a little prolonged and seems a little strange at first. However, Alfredo the owner could not be more helpful or accommodating. He was on hand always and looked after us perfectly. Some of our guys like a drink and can get a little noisy late at night, and there were one or two complaints, which Alfredo raised with us, but to be honest this was justified! I don't like unnecessary noise in the middle of the night either! So if you're looking for somewhere more lively and you don't respect other guests and their need for sleep, I'd suggest you stay elsewhere. But if you are looking for somewhere considerate, with all 'necessary' facilities and at a reasonable...
Read moreOur 10-night stay at Marina Apartments was absolutely perfect! The location is ideal (a 30-second easy downhill stroll to the beach, so not on the main noisy seafront street, lovely and quiet!) and the apartment had everything you could need. The whole place was kept spotlessly clean by some very friendly cleaning staff, there were plenty of fresh towels, the kitchen had all the utensils and appliances for cooking properly, the beds were all super comfortable, the air-con worked perfectly, and the spacious balcony was such a bonus! We didn't use the pool due to being so close to the beach, but it looked great, especially if you're travelling with kids. Most of all, we appreciated the warm welcome from the hosts Luis & Alberto, who have clearly put a lot of thought and care into how their apartments are run! My top tip for your stay here- book directly with Marina Apartamentos, instead of through an online travel agent such as Booking.con, it's better for...
