If you are thinking of going here… I recommend to look at lowest stars up. I think there is a large amount of disingenuous and artificial reviews on here.
We were a chance table of three (2 adults 1 child) at 1915.
Restaurant was fairly quiet at that point but many tables reserved.
We interacted with a wavy waiter who was rather difficult to understand.
We ordered starters and a margarita pizza for child. Mains for adults (2 x Pizza).
The Starter for adults arrived quickly. We were given no tableware or napkins and struggled to get service staff attention for some.
Child’s pizza arrived at the end of Starters, we then waited around 30 mins for clearance of starter.
We then waited a further 35 mins with no sign of pizzas. We had to ask twice on the status as it had been well over an hour and tables of 5 and 6 had sat and fully dined since our arrival.
At this stage, the restaurant was filling up. Lots of kissing and greeting at the entrance - obviously affluent locals with cash to spend regularly and it was apparent the holidaying family inside had been forgotten about.
As our son had managed to get something decent to eat at least we needed to get him back to the hotel as it was getting late. We asked to cancel our main course pizzas and get the bill.
Wavy waiter then was rude and dismissive of us - raising his voice - blah blah blah - very, very difficult and certainly not how you portrait yourself in hospitality whatsoever. No apology… at any point, just defensive shouting.
This place is merely a passing trade, cash generator in a prime location unless you are pals with the guy on the door. I recommend to avoid it if you are on holiday… it’ll ruin your evening for sure.
I’ve worked in the hospitality industry for 25years and been coming to Palmanova for 5years and this is one of the worst examples of service I have ever seen.
The kitchen has two people in it… it’s overloaded and unorganised. I waited all night for a couple of pizzas that take 9-10 mins to...
Read moreFabulous restaurant, great location, food fresh and staff accommodating and helpful. We asked for an outside table (there were plenty!) yet we were shown to an odd little balcony up the stairs, far too hot and unwelcoming area, and when I noticed the air con unit next to me leaking water everywhere I asked to be moved, which they accommodated graciously. I’m always baffled why I’m given the worst table in the house at all restaurants, despite there being nicer located tables?! and I always smile and am polite, but still get sat in the f’uggly zones! 🤔 😆 Anyways was a pleasant experience and far outweighed that of Rossini down the road both for food quality, price and customer service…(don’t bother going there!) I am also baffled that the menu we had was only offering pizza pasta and salads… no fresh fish or meat dishes at all… so either it wasn’t ‘surf n turf’ night or we were handed the lunch menu? 🤔 Anyways still didn’t disappoint and we would happily return again and recommend this establishment. Was also extremely refreshing to witness the proprietor offering a clean t.shirt to a young lady who thought it was acceptable to turn up to a restaurant wearing a bikini that barely covered skin and an open fronted crocheted dress that was clearly on back to front to further enhance the fact that her bikini was nothing more than a piece of sticking plaster on her nipples! Who wants to see that whilst eating their dinner with family! Fair play to the restauranteur for having...
Read moreMixed feelings. Went for dinner for the first time and we thought that was wonderful. We ordered the octopus, the shrimp, boquerones and other entry. We decided to come back for lunch and this time the experience was totally different. We ordered for starters a tuna tartare that was ok but nothing that I would order again. After one hour and a half of waiting and seeing that next to us the group of 6 ladies that arrived after us and got served their main course (I know, it’s my fault for not checking before but I thought… oh well, it’s our holidays and there’s no rush) , I asked the server and she said to me that the fish would take more time to cook but was a lie. After that, we had another server saying that our order was forgotten and finally we got served.
The octopus was nice but a bit hard but the fish was just super dry and had no flavor… it was small and definitely not worth the wait! They didn’t charge us for one lemonade to make up for the wait but I left with a bad experience overall.
I think consistency is the hardest for...
