Serious hygiene issues and no accountability – avoid this hotel!!!
We stayed at Moon Dreams Fuengirola and had one of the worst hotel experiences we've ever had.
From the first night, we found dead cockroaches in the apartment. Over the following days, live cockroaches began appearing in the shower, corners of the room, curtains, under the bed — and even falling from the ceiling onto the bed while we were sleeping. We counted over 15 live cockroaches inside the apartment, and many more just outside the door.
When we went to reception, a maintenance staff member casually told us this was “normal” because the hotel had recently fumigated the drains. No one informed us about this in advance, which is extremely irresponsible given the health risks — from both chemical exposure and the pest infestation itself. Even the reception staff said they were unaware of that the fumigation was gonna take place that day however their own staff did the fumigation. That alone is unacceptable.
Eventually, we were offered another room, but only after we told the receptionist we were checking out one day early. We left the hotel one day early because it was simply unsafe and unsanitary.
Communication with staff was poor throughout — not only were they unhelpful at the time, but after our stay, we spent 10 days calling Booking.com and the hotel trying to get a proper refund. All they agreed to return was the night we didn’t use. No one took responsibility, and the hotel refused to be accountable for the situation. Communication has been frustrating and, frankly, terrible.
This experience ruined the end of our holiday. The hotel is not up to any reasonable hygiene or customer service standards. I strongly advise...

As usual we stayed as a family of four, shared two poolside rooms 507 and 509 and had breakfast included.|Our experience of the hotel was every bit as good as before. The staff are friendly and helpful. Our cleaner Ima is a fantastic worker and the maintenance man Enrique is hard working too. The reception staff were efficient and nothing was too much trouble for them.|The pool area is kept very clean. The poolside snack bar is handy too.|Generally it was quite quiet apart from when a lively group of about 20 men arrived for a Stag weekend. The receptionist soon told them off when they became destructive with the sunbeds and noise level got too much. |The hotel seems to be becoming popular with return guests. We met three other couples from last year! We will definitely be returning (hopefully next summer). The hotel suits our needs perfectly, five minutes walk to the beach, near shops, restaurants etc. However, it is not for everyone. If you are looking for hotel entertainment, half or full board, then this is not available. It is not luxurious by any means but it is very clean. Its probably more suited to middle aged guests or couples wanting a quieter break in the sun. The clientele is a mixture of British, Spanish and Scandinavian. |Muchas gracias a todos los empleados. ¡Hasta el año que viene!...

The "real" double STD room I got was rather a "Smelly Moldy Hole" (photo), totally different from that nice photo (with balcony) online for this category, which attracted me to book in this hotel. I never asked for upgrade!
The male receptionist refused to change & said that photo is just an example! I suggested putting the real photo online, if they dare, so that guests can make the right choice of hotel or room! Finally, I took him up to the room to see and later he allocated me to a better! We remained good friends for the remaining of time. The night shift male staff was also nice too.
A female receptionist who worked in the morning shifts in 17-19 June, was extremely rude to me and another family+child, shouting at us several times, when we asked (separately) for help.
A chair was upside down in the pool with the sharp legs upwards for hours, but the staff didn't care, if those could stick into a swimmer's face/torso (Photo)!
