Hotel La Casa de Los Naranjos is absolutely beautiful. My first stay at the hotel was in June 2023. I returned just five weeks later in July and again in November. - I just can't get enough of this place and here’s why..||A gorgeous bouquet hotel set in the small village of Haría, also know as the valley of 1000 palms, La Casa de Los Naranjos is a 200 year old renovated home with eight equally stunning bedrooms, all offering their individual and unique touch of character and charm. The decor is stunning, with high ceilings, chandeliers and free standing baths tubs, the hotel has a beautiful movie set feel. It's like stepping back in time but with a modern twist. Upstairs is a beautiful library and large roof terrace, wonderful spaces to relax and explore. ||The staff are all very welcoming, friendly and helpful and they do an amazing job at effortlessly making you feel at home. The breakfast (included in the room rate) is gorgeous. The mornings start with fresh fruit, yogurt and granola, tea/coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice. You then select your preferred hot breakfast from the menu, followed by home baked cake or brownie. The optional evening meals are also very delicious. Set in the main restaurant area, the candle lit room creates a beautiful dining atmosphere.||I have so far stayed in rooms 1, 2, 4 and 5 during my three visits to the hotel and each room is equally as beautiful, all providing that wow factor!. The beds are extremely comfortable. Rooms have air conditioning and the water pressure provides the best showers I've ever experienced in any hotel. The free standing bath tubs are spacious enough for two people, with a small side table where candles and matches are provided. A wonderful candle lit bubble bath experience, perfect for couples or solo travellers who enjoy a relaxing soak with a romantic pamper atmosphere.||Haría is the place to lose yourself and find yourself, all at once. The landscape is beautiful. Surrounded by mountains to hike with stunning ocean views, a pretty village square with a small selection of restaurants/bars, shops and a supermarket. Away from tourist crowds, vibrant nightlife and chain hotels, Haría is a peaceful, slow pace village with charm and character around every corner. Home to the late César Manrique, you can visit his beautiful villa and art studio as well as the near by attractions that he designed, including Mirador del Rio, Cactus gardens, Jameos del Agua.||I can’t recommend this hotel highly enough.|If you are looking for an experience, an adventure and to explore something much more meaningful than just another holiday, then book this hotel!.||Thank you José, Balbo and your entire team of amazing staff for another unforgettable stay. I now feel refreshed and renewed, just in time for Christmas. I’ll see you all again soon.||¡hasta...
Read moreThis is a tricky one ... if the Emblematico had been a guest house charging say 150 Euros a night , id have given it 3 stars - the rooms are large and pleasantly decorated - comfy bed and a lovely bath (albeit right by the open toilet ....) nowhere really to sit and our rooms on the ground floor gave the passing trade a good look at me on the loo, but the Emblematico holds itself out as a hotel and charges 4 Seasons prices - 1000E a night and so everything needs to be perfect and its so far from fulfilling that promise that it feels like a total rip off - there is no bar, there is nowhere really to sit - dont be fooled by the 'Library' but worst of all there isnt really any attempt at food - breakfast is very poor and dinner well on the first night where admitedly we were late arriving was a reheated vegetable pie - nice enough and bread and cheese. On the following night - there was nothing , cook was ill and they had no back up plan - we tried to go into the village but as the nice young lady on the front desk warned us - this was a busy time and there would be no tables - true enough , but that would have been useful information to have received during the day - so after a long day , we had stale toast for dinner - i dont want to sound like a princess and if we had been spending at 150Es we would have shrugged out shoulders and said 'fine' - but for somewhere charging like a bull rhino it was completely unacceptable - no apology , no deductions , nothing - in the end we left the next day a day early because its just no fun to be in a place quite so careless of their guests. If you want rustic charm in a room and nothing else from a hotel and if you are fine about the frankly eye watering room rates - be my guest , if you want anything more avoid - these guys need to get a lot better to come close to...
Read moreProbably the most beautiful hotel I’ve ever stayed in. José, the owner and creator of the hotel, refurbished the traditional Manor House during lockdown, with the help of his daughters.
He’s evidently a man of superb taste with an excellent understanding of what makes a place luxuriously comfortable and welcoming.
Our rooms (we booked 2 nights in one room, the third in another, because the hotel was full in November) were stunning; quiet, just perfect really. We had a freestanding bath with a sumptuous shower (divinely scented soaps and shampoos), spotless linen on plump pillows, springy mattresses.
Although the hotel’s restaurant was out of service for dinner and lunch, breakfast was delicious and the Green Door restaurant, less than 10 minutes walk away, fed us delicious meals.
Haría, the quiet and pretty little town in which the hotel rests, is a world away from the frantic tourist traps of towns in the south. (You need a car. Taxis from the airport are more expensive than rentals.)
There are unspoilt beaches close by — the best one requires a 400my sheer descent down hairpin shingle paths followed by a 20 minute walk — not for the faint-hearted or the unfit.
José could not have been more helpful, advising us on places to visit in Lanzarote, telling us about the island’s history and his work on the hotel.
I have saved the best for last though: the house dog, Balbo, is utterly adorable, beautiful, affectionate and prone to sudden, chaotic breaks for freedom, pursued by whoever’s handy and fast.
We...
