After spending two weeks through southern Spain and staying in wonderful hotels, I would say this hotel was very disappointing. The staff was not very friendly, especially the female waitress at restaurant and the male and female workers at the pool/spa counter. My family and I were really looking forward to staying at this hotel and finishing up our stay in Spain here. Although we only stayed one night, my parents were staying for a week to celebrate their anniversary. They had stayed at this hotel 44 years ago on their wedding night and it meant something special to them. Sadly, I watched my father become very disillusioned and disappointed throughout their stay. It was very unfortunate. He expected to get a suite overlooking the pool but was told there were no pool views upon checkin. Then he and my mom tried to go into the indoor pool since it was raining outside but were told the spa was a separate package and only for 45 minute increments a day. This is a ridiculous concept especially since the hotel boasts that they are a spa hotel and list the indoor pool as one of their amenities. Didn’t realize it was an “extra”. It was not worth the extra money either as the “spa” isn’t that nice. Also there are kid swimming lessons being hosted there during the day by an outside company. I mentioned my parent’s anniversary and their less than satisfactory treatment upon my checkout and the staff attempted to “fix” things by providing my parents with a bottle of wine. Mediocre gesture for a nice hotel but unfortunately my parents do not drink. Either way, I feel that this hotel could have done much more for their guests. The biggest issue was the lack of attentiveness from the staff. Hospitality can make or break someone’s stay and their experience in a particular city. My husband isn’t from Spain and if this had been his first time in Jerez, I feel that he would not have enjoyed the city because of the hotel experience but thankfully we have stayed at better hotels in the past and can overlook this experience. However, after seeing the disappointment in my parents eyes, I sadly will not be staying here ever again nor recommending this hotel. There are plenty of other great hotels in Jerez. This one has a great location but that’s it. The breakfast was definitely not worth it either. Much better places to eat outside of the hotel with fresh juice and...
Read moreWe have recently returned from a lovely 10 day holiday at the Hotel Jerez & Spa. The hotel is situated a 10 minute taxi ride (6-8 Euros) from Jerez Old Town. We stayed in a pool access room. The room was large, spacious, very clean, possibly the nicest room that we have stayed in. The access to the pool was well worth the additional charge. The swimming pool was kept very clean, opened at 11am. However, there was no chains or padlocks stopping you from using the sun loungers. The guests all observed the opening time of the pool. There are lots of sun loungers both around the pool and in the gardens. There was never a problem getting a sun lounger.||We had the bed and breakfast option. The food option was excellent with hot options, pastries, croissants, cereals, cold meats, fresh fruit and yoghurt to name but a few items. You can either book half board or pay a charge of 25 euros each time that you book an evening meal as a guest staying at the hotel, well worth the charge. You are able to select a starter, main course and desert from an extensive menu. Dinner is served at the lovely AQ35 restaurant which adjoins and is owned by the hotel. Although the half board menu is taken inside, the setting is very nice, dinner is served to you at the table. Local people use the restaurant, usually dining in the beautiful courtyard, selection from a different menu which was extensive and reasonably priced. The staff in the restaurant are polite, professional and very friendly. A special mention to Maria who was lovely.||Majority of the guests were Spanish, which enhanced the experience of a holiday not in a resort.||The only negative was the lack of parental supervision of the children in the pool. Some parent/s not supervising their young children in the pool. On one occasion a guest in the pool went to assist a child who was struggling in the deeper end of the pool, the parent sitting on a lounger scrolling on her phone. Equally concerning was the young lifeguards who were also sat looking at their mobiles. I never saw the lifeguards walking around the pool.||Jerez is simply lovely, authentic, reasonably priced, well...
Read moreI stayed at Hotel Jerez & Spa for 6 nights. The hotel is somewhat old and could use some renovating, but the rooms are spacious and clean. The pool is also big and clean and open till quite late. Parking is free and I always found a spot. Staff is friendly. However, there are a few details you should know if you are considering this hotel Wifi is extremely bad, mostly due to a complicated login procedure that usually freezes, so you can't connect. But even when connected, the Internet is slow or doesn't work at all. This happened with both my Android phone and iPad. Because of this, I also couldn't stream to the TV, even though the TV supported this. There are not enough sunbeds around the pool. I was there before the high season, and people already had to sit in the grass in the afternoon because of lack of sunbeds. The rooms are not soundproof. You can hear people in the hallway. As the hotel attracts a lot of groups and families with children, there was running and screaming in the hallways from early in the morning till late at night. I was also for some weird reason given a connecting room, and I could hear everything my 'neigbours' were saying and doing through the thin connecting doors. So bring earplugs. Breakfast was OK but a bit too expensive for what you get. The hotel is far from the city centre. I knew this but underestimated it a bit. There are unfortunately no buses to the historic centre, only to the station. There is no hotel bar. Once the pool bar closes, that's it. I did not eat at the restaurant so can't evaluate it.
I would rate the hotel 3 stars in stead of 4, but the price was OK. I don't regret choosing this hotel, but because of above reasons it might not be everyone's cup of tea.
EDIT I really do not know where this bus stop at 2 minutes from the hotel is. No map or Internet info mentions it. The nearest existing stop is at Plaza del Caballo, which is almost a 10-minute walk. It also only has buses to the train station and no buses to the historic centre. It really doesn't help you if you try to spread...
