We have had our time share for 15 years , unfortunatley over the time this once luxury holiday has turned into a bog standard resort. Due to health issues this week is the first time i have been for 3 years. It has been a very expensive and very disappointing.
On arrival we looked out the balcony on to a building site. The pool we have used for the last 15 years was having maintance work ... this resulted in loud power tools all day long and a daily fight for sun beds around the other pools.... with 3 young children it’s imperative we have an area for the children to relax and use a pool, however even as early as 8 am sun beds were nearly all gone , what was left were the odd 1 or 2 remaining on a row with no parasol... but what was more annoying is the majority of beds were left with a book or a towel with no one sat on them....ALL DAY! Anfi entitles us to free sun beds at the beach .... so rather than fight for sunbeds with anfi holiday makers you could fight with locals to attempt to get a bed. We spent the majority of the time sat in the room /balcony.
We as a family have always enjoyed taking part in the games during the day.... not anymore... shuffle board is no longer enjoyable as so many people take part and with no shaded area, it is almost unbearable to stand and watch 30 people take part before you get a turn. The popularity of this game you would have thought they would have 2 different times or 2 shuffle board games at once.
Our favourite game water polo is now the one we avoid. It used to be great fun. However on the occasion me and my family played it this holiday. The staff member told us to split into 2 teams and look at each other’s faces... because he didn’t have the usual caps that differentiate the 2 teams. We ended up quoting after 2 minutes.
Lastly and probably most importantly. The expense!
If you are coming for a week here be prepared to bring at least £1000 euros , EVERYTHING IS REDICULOUSLY EXPENSIVE... many other holiday makers have also commented on this too. I would advise anyone who is staying in and I to avoid eating and drinking here. It is overpriced and they are continuing to increase the prices yearly. The new desert restaurant is by far the most over priced ...AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!
OTHER POINTS: Maid service very poor Beach towels provided can not be swapped if they get soiled
Some staff very nice, some staff extremely ignorant.
I will not be coming to the family time share again. Just for the amount you will spend in a week you could get a lovely all inclusive holiday and a sunved...
Read moreBeen coming here for years, wonderful place to chill out and go diving. Scubasur really is the best five school I know of. Too bad they can't do more swimming pool taster sessions with covid.
Anfi is a really beautiful place. Shame there aren't more healthy and sustainable food options (I have IBS so large quantities of greasy food and refined/white flour aren't good for me, and I also try to eat based on a planetary diet, so only a sustainable amount of animal products, which is not much, but the local restaurants don't reflect any awareness of the ecological collapse happening around the world). We're just about managing, while eating in most of the time. Great kitchen facilities (except no oven!) Really liked the Asian restaurant in Gran Anfi. I feel like Anfi could do more to minimise it's environmental footprint-yes I know it's a holiday resort with limited options, and example would the the crazy amount of light pollution, it's got much wider since I was last here 5 years ago. I used to be able to see the stars, and unusual algal light displays in the sea, but even if they happened I think it's too bright now. There's also just so much paving everywhere. I love the garden and the little biodiversity pond/stream in Anfi beach. They could have a bit more native flora in places, maybe up the hill. There's a native Canarian tree species that collects morning mist instead of rain, which then waters the soil. Magical! Not sure it would work here in the South of the island, but would be so...
