My partner took me here for my 40th birthday, and wow did he pick the most amazing place !! We took a 5 minute walk from where we are staying up to the restaurant, we were received by a warm welcome, the restaurant is absolutely stunning inside and outside. We were sat outside , with stunning views of Anfi beach and the ocean. You know you’re in a classy place when you have a seat for your bag, the selection of wines are large, I asked for an Aperol Spritz and they had them also. We went for the experience menu, with me not liking fish or seafood they happily explained I could have the vegetarian options along side the meats. The food was fantastic!! So rich and tasty. So much variety and it was truly a great experience of food. I cannot fault one thing at all. The service was also excellent. Food was well explained and I even received a birthday cake at the end. Also just to mention we both left with full bellies! This is definitely worth trying for a special occasion or just to simply try the experience, we will definitely...
Read moreFull disclosure: whenever I go to Gran Canaria, for any length of time, from 4 or 5 days, to six weeks, I ALWAYS eat at La Aquarela (sometimes more than once). I have found over the seven or eight years that I have visiting the restaurant that the quality of food, the professional service and the whole general ambience really is something special. From the Head Chef to the guy who clears the crumbs, the staff are always friendly and knowledgeable about the dishes and genuinely seek out comments to pass back to the kitchen. The wine pairing is also top notch (if you can afford it) and a good mix of local and mainland wines compliment every dish, from the Cava at the start, to the dessert wine at the end. It had been fourteen months since my last visit, and all but the one very special signature dish had changed which shows the chef's continuing search for excellence. (Just a word of warning, a recent price rise did mean that the full menu and wine flight is...
Read moreCame here for a birthday dinner while staying on Gran Canaria and it was great. It is a very high quality dining experience and worth the price.
The waitstaff were friendly and welcoming when we arrived and we had a nice table overlooking the pool and nearby resorts. They started us off with some really great nice and creative appetisers (beef tartare cornettos and "fake olives" made of goats cheese), which were then followed by absolutely lovely starters and mains.
I had the beef taco starter which was beautifully done and tasty, and we shared a chateaubriand as the main which was cooked to perfection and came with fantastic vegetables and sauces.
The desserts were also very good, with a nice creme brulee and chocolate tart.
They even prepared a little birthday cake as I had mentioned the occasion when I made the reservation but had otherwise forgotten about - a nice touch by them.
Highly recommended if you are after a...
