The hotel is practically built on the hill so be prepared to walk if you' not one to be physically active. This is also an adult only, meaning no children, which is nice for those who enjoy the peace and quiet.
The hotel entrance sits below the street access from the road. Stairs going down from arrival of a coach stop. There is a rather steep hill for car park access and for wheel chair users. The reception area is spacious with glass doors, which allows maximum lighting.
After speaking to members of staff at the entrance and booking in. Received two (2) door keys. Most of the information was provided on the paper. However, I do suggest it does need to be updated to better standards. Making easier for those with dyslexia.
When using the key cards, one card is required to be inserted for everything to power, and that includes the AC.
The maps outlining directions to he main areas such as the pool bar would be beneficial. Even the signs must have better guidance, I was sober and got lost trying to find the pool bar even on my second attempt.
It's worth pointing out. There are 4 lifts total. The main lift, 15 down to 12. So Reception; Floor 15, followed by the Restaurant on Floor 14. There is a Gym on the 13th floor with rules and guidelines to adhere to. On the 12th floor, this branches out to two different lifts, There is a way to the pool bar that is wheel chair friendly and after a walk back. Best access, including wheel chair friendly directly to pool bar, is lift No.2, going to 6th Floor.
Room cleaning is a grey spot as the maid seems to come when they can, rather than in a regular pattern.
What I mean by that arrived late into the night on Monday, although it was our fault for not placing the sign on the door. They arrived a little after 9. So, made a mental note. Expecting them to return roughly the same time. When Thursday came, maid never turned up till well after half 10. But never turned up until about 3pm on the Saturday despite seeing them about 10am on floor above.
Maids work basically 5 days except Friday and Sunday. All the staff from reception, restaurant and bar staff have been great, made the stay welcome.
If you have booked with least half board during your stay and you do arrive later on when checking in. We were greeted with a welcome pack due to the restaurant being closed at 2100.
This is a rather nice gesture after flights and transfers, etc.
The hotel has a small mini-market and was open only on the Friday when checking. For technical problems, they were closed from Tuesday to Thursday as far as I was aware.
As for the pool area, if you're lucky there are 2 private pools to rooms and 2 main pools.
There is also a massage area that comes with additional prices.
Cleaning, maintenance, and performance of the hotel is kept above the average standard, and they value this.
So, onto the room. Practically situated the furthest away due to getting the option with pool outside the room. The pool area comes with; Outside Shower 3 chairs & and table Wall maiden 3 Sunbeds with a Sombrilla Corner couch.
The room was practically brilliant. Kitchen area with the essentials was provided, including guidelines on how to use the electric hob. Should mention how water in the bathroom area for hot is left sided but in the kitchen is on the right. I presume it's a general error when building was commissioned, but ideally, the little things like this come in useful to prevent scolding, especially when weather most would like to keep to ambient temperature
As mentioned, you must have a key card inserted for anything to operate that's electric. Feel like the only flaw that could be improved was the shower tray. Felt flimsy, worn out. The shower pressure was fantastic, which must admit I enjoyed it. There are two shower functions..
Felt valued and the staff were practically and verbally fantastic. Never seen someone standing about, always active no matter what. Really happy to see how positive the workforce works.
When leaving the hotel, we was unable to stay in the room as must...
Read moreMy boyfriend & I recently stayed for 10 nights, between 24th May - 3rd June. Our room was 1212. We arrived quite late around 11:40pm, to be greeted quite rudely by the man on reception. We thought that nearly all the staff were rude, abrupt & didn’t look happy to be working here. We found our room quite easy. When we got there, I felt a bit disappointed because it looked quite bare. A few more wall deco would’ve been nice, a couple of cushions on the sofa or a floor lamp for the living room as the ceiling lights were too bright on an evening. The room was well equipped for self-catering if you chose to do so. There were no free teas/coffees, even just enough for 1 each would’ve been nice because of our late arrival or a small bottle of water. The room was extremely dusty & dirty. My feet were filthy not long after I took my shoes & socks off. Plates were dirty on the racking. You could see thick layers of dust underneath the beds, kitchen cabinets & sofa. There was a lot of wear & tear on furniture like the coffee table, bathroom sink, wardrobe, tiles on the balcony. You could see mould in the overflow hole of the bathroom sink. I used the floor towel to wipe water from the edge of the shower door, it came away green! Any time you fill the kitchen sink up & emptied it, the room filled with a horrible rotten sewage smell. A long handle broom would’ve been helpful to sweep around, as well as a dust pan & brush. Our electricity went off one day & it took the staff 40/45 minutes to figure out what the issue was, it wasn’t like one of the electricity switches tripped. We couldn’t get in our room one day because the battery died in the door card access/handle. Towels were €5 deposit, plus €1 every day you have them. It was €5 deposit to rent an iron, with no ironing board. It didn’t sit well with me that you have to put deposits down for things, not something I’ve experienced before whilst travelling. Breakfast was okay. It was the same every day, the fruit varied (most of it tinned) & the odd hot item. Alain & Dalain were the friendliest staff we met whilst here, always greeting with a smile & hello, the cooks doing the eggs were friendly too. The pool areas felt quite cramped with sun beds, especially closer to the pools but there was plenty further away. The pools areas had sun all day. Cocktails from the poolside bar were nice. The hotel had live music on a few nights a week but we never went. The hotel next door was quite loud late into the evening. The hotel is very close to Europa shopping centre which has a couple of nice restaurants & bars with entertainment & bingo. Plenty of shops, a big hipodino so it saves you the walk down the hill to the spar. The hotel is about a 20/30 minute walk down to either beach, make sure to wear sensible footwear because it can be slippy going down the some of the steeper parts. It’s a difficult walk back up, either steep slopes or lots of stairs. My boyfriend & I are physically active, we found it a struggle. Taxis were about €6/€7, they take card as well as cash. Overall, the stay was okay but I wouldn’t stay again or...
Read moreHotel is a short walk from the Europa centre for Food, drinks and shops, but beware it's entrance is located below street level and access is either via a very steep car park slope or several flights of stairs. It wasn't my favourite part of the day, leaving or entering. Once checked into hotel, you are given your electronic key cards, instructions and a map, after travelling for hours we found it very difficult to find our rooms as the hotel is built on the side of a cliff, so built on many levels and access to rooms is via many lifts (3 in my case) and a rabbit warren of corridors which is very confusing. The main routes to and from reception, lifts, dining room, pool areas are regularly cleaned, but was quite filthy outside my room (see photo) Once I'd located the room I was greeted with a foul stench from drains that came and went all week. It was quite unpleasant to sit or sleep in the room with the stench. There is a very obvious issue with drains there. Plenty of noise from hotel opposite, I could hear their music and entertainment from a few hundred meters away. Some nice distance views of the sea and sunsets, sun rises out of view behind one hotel and sets behind another, but looks beautiful although you miss the final sunset, as doesn't quite meet the sea, it's still very picturesque. Small gift shop there for essentials to save a trip to Europa centre with limited opening hours. Little to no entertainment in the evening bar. Rooms clean and tidy , beds comfortable and cleaned, air con included. Nice big outside area with loungers, table & chairs, sadly not much of a view, mostly walls, corridors and roof tops. Rated as no 8 hotel in the area, but I wasn't keen on the location. Swimming pools clean but no heating, so you'd need to be brave to enter in February even when it's averaging 22/24 °C. Taxis cost about 6/7 Euros into Puerto Rico which is a nicer place to eat & drink than Europa centre. Not a lot to see or do nearby other than The Europa centre, so a very long and steep walk or a taxi/bus ride to get to Puerto Rico. Going downhill isn't too bad, but uphill is a real struggle and I walk a lot. I did the walk once, but thought better if it and used taxis from then on. In front of hotel is a piece of undeveloped land, it was quite unsightly and untidy, a bit of an eyesore. Towards the end of our stay there were workmen clearing up, but still not the best view. Not sure what will be built there and might further impact the view. So if you are fit and well, this may not be the best choice for you. T.V. in room isn't very good, not many channels to view whilst relaxing. Plenty of wardrobe space, twin beds in main room, sofa bed in lounge. No visitors allowed! Kitchen well equipped with Electric hob, fridge, microwave, pots, pans, crockery, glasses, utensils, kettle, table and stools. Not the worst and not the best hotel I've stayed in, just average really. I wouldn't rule out staying again, but would definitely look for an...
