Hotel Garbí exceeded our expectations in every way! We booked our trip for two of us in late July. Before arriving, there were several things I was worried about based on other Google reviews, but they turned out not to be a problem at all:

Parking - Despite arriving on a Saturday evening in late July (peak tourist season), there was plenty of free parking close by the hotel. While we couldn’t park in the hotel parking lot, there was another free, safe public parking lot right next to it that we easily found a spot in. On Monday, we were able to move our car into the hotel parking lot.

WiFi - Like other reviews have stated, the WiFi in the rooms is nonexistent, although it’s fine by the lobby and by the pool. However, we needed to work remote while we were here and when we told the front desk, they immediately gave us a WiFi extender and it worked perfectly for our stay. From my understanding, they have several of these they can give to guests.

Beds & Pillows - Based on a few reviews, I was worried these would not be comfortable. However, the beds were fantastic, and while the pillows were a bit flat for our liking, we talked to the front desk and they brought us fluffier pillows within a few minutes. Problem solved!

A/C - It was super hot and humid while we were here, but the A/C in our room worked great once we got it turned up all the way.

Stairs - Yes, there are quite a few stairs to get to Hotel Garbí as it is on a hill overlooking the town. However, this is the case pretty much anywhere you stay in Calella de Palafrugell, and it did not feel excessive at all. Plus, it’s worth it for the gorgeous view from the balconies and it’s what allows for the space to have the amazing pool!

Ultimately, the location was perfect, access to the sea was abundant, the pool and surrounding chairs were stunning, and we couldn’t have asked for a...

Perched up above the town itself means that the views of Calella de Palafrugell are unrivalled compared to other hotels. This family run hotel is not state of the art (which I quite like!) but is spotlessly clean, with polite attentive staff and a laid back vibe that suited our 4 night stay. It was pretty quiet too during our stay mid-June so that’s a big plus too.

Breakfast (included) was good and it was peaceful to be sitting under the pine trees having coffee and a selection from the buffet.

Our room, on the top floor, had the biggest balcony I’ve ever seen in a hotel room! With expansive views right across the town and down to the sea… quite spectacular!

The rooms are simply furnished and functional but the bed was too hard for our liking. A/C worked very well… handy when it’s 30+ degrees.

Given its location means that the elevation gain each day makes for a good work out! Not ideal for anyone with mobility issues, either getting to the hotel from the town or from the top floor to the breakfast room and pool area.

The pool is lovely and very quiet during our stay. I’d imagine this place gets pretty busy in season.

WiFi in the room was non existent but the 4G so good here it doesn’t really matter. It was fine once by the restaurant and pool area. Overall, a nice enough hotel to make us think we’d return. Calella de Palafrugell is a beautiful place to come for a short break (or longer of course) and Hotel Garbi is a great...

Lovely hotel. We were so surprised when we got the hot tub on our balcony in the superior room we booked (room 317 for those that want to know)! We were hoping we did but didnt put our hopes up! What a lovely way to end our days in the evening under the stars in a warm bubbly bath sipping Cava. :) The pool area and hot tub at the pools was also lovely which had a shower and change room facilities. The view from our room was obstructed by the trees but still beautiful. The breakfast was limiting for us as we are vegans. We bought our own products from Veritas in Palafrugell (recommended to us by the Wati the receptionist) such as cheese, butter, hummus, etc and had bread, tomatoes, nuts, oat milk, coffee, avocado from the buffet. As we didn't have a kettle in the room to make our own coffee in the morning we choose not to change our booking to "accommodation only". We were also delighted that there was a bar fridge in the room for our food and wines. The rooms were cleaned every day at a high standard. WATI, the receptionist (hope I spelt her name correct) was exceptionally wonderful, helpful, cheerful and just such a joy to chat to. She gets 10/10! . The stairs back and forth to the beach definitely kept us fit. We also walked to Palafrugell, LaFranc and Tamariu which is possible for those that want to be active during their stay :) Thank your Hotel Garbi...

Tremendous stay all round. Good stuff: - Breakfast was excellent. Better than expected and great for vegetarians. Very nice scrambled eggs, fresh tomatoes, avocado, loads of fruit, cereal, nice bread, coffee, juice etc. Eaten under nice big trees in the garden. Lovely! - The grounds and pool are very pleasant. - Great location - 8-10 mins walk to the beach/town. A big Spar four mins away. We got a taxi from Girona airport to the hotel which was about 50 mins and when we left a 15 min taxi to Palafrugell bus station. - All the staff were lovely. - Room was big and the balcony had a beautiful view. AC worked well. A few small bits to improve: - The mini fridge in the room was pretty warm and didn't make things cold. - The bed wasn't particularly comfy, especially the pillows. - Shower temperature occasionally went very hot or cold mid-shower. - The WiFi in the room wasn't good. Not a problem for me as mobile data coverage was fine, but it wouldn't do if you're planning to work there. Only small things though! Overall it was a great hotel and would happily recommend it.
