Hotel Ciutat Jardi — Hotel in Palma

This was a very poor experience and my wife and I feel cheated. We booked what is advertised as the top floor suite which was quite expensive. This room was very tired and not furnished as per the photos on the website. There were many issues. If I had not paid up front I would have checked out immediately. Issues were :|Room very tired and dirty. Floor in lounge area was filthy. Scruffy furnishings No draws to put clothes in. No door on lavatory so no privacy. Uncomfortable hard pillows and mattress Maid never cleaned up cups and glasses. No kettle in room. Had to request this. Tea and coffee facilities in room is a norm at least in a 4* hotel. |Advertises room service but there was no phone in the room. When I asked reception how to get room service I was told come down and order or phone reception using my cellphone !!!! No water in room. This is the norm in most hotels. We ended up paying for water from the minibar. when I checked out I was told that the maid should have put water in room but I was never offered a refund for the water we drank.|Advertises a cocktail bar and piano bar open until 23-00hrs. Nobody could make cocktails and never saw the bar open after 20-30hrs. So what is advertised is not offered.|Overall I felt cheated after paying a lot of money for my 4 night stay. We travel a lot, but rarely we have seen such a fantastic service in an hotel: all the staff was nice, friendly and warm. It was, simply put, the best service we've ever seen. The hotel itself is really charming and nice, with a well rounded breakfast service and a number of small touches like the possibility of renting a car directly at the hotel. The area is around half an hour walk from Palma and from L'Areal: the nearby beach is nothing special but it's reasonably fast to move across the bay. At the same time, you won't have to endure drunken Germans and will be placed in the mid of a mostly Spanish neighborhood. On the bad side, we had a not-so-great experience with our room: we booked at the very last minute and, despite paying the full (high) rate of the hotel we ended up in a dependance: we were separated from a nearby room just by an internal room (and we could hear them setting up the alarm clock in the evening), we were at the ground floor with a small window and in general the room quality was closer to 3 stars than 4. On the other hand, the room was big and clean. I don't think we got good value for the rate, but guests staying in the main rooms will surely have had a different opinion.
