We arrived around midnight, and I was pleasantly surprised to find someone at the front desk ready to help us. Check-in was quick, smooth, and the staff member gave us all the relevant information we needed for our stay—including a little info sheet we could refer to later. After a long travel day, this kind of efficiency is always appreciated.
Our room was small but functional—definitely not the largest, but clean and equipped with everything we needed: a bed, bathroom, wardrobe, and mini-fridge. Housekeeping came daily, which was a big plus, as long as you remembered to hang the “clean my room” sign on the door.
The pool area was one of the better parts of the hotel. It’s large, well-kept, and surrounded by plenty of sunbeds—though I strongly recommend reserving one with your towel before breakfast, as they fill up fast (a typical resort tactic, but worth noting).
They also have recreational options like pool tables, air hockey, and table tennis, which is great.
This hotel is very clearly aimed at Spanish guests. While that’s not inherently a bad thing, it does mean that entertainment and activities are largely conducted in Spanish, and the offerings for international guests are pretty limited.
Entertainment was short-lived, usually around 45 minutes per evening, and while we didn’t expect full-blown Vegas shows, a bit more variety and energy would have been nice. Daytime activities were minimal, and there’s not much of a social or party vibe if that’s what you’re after.
Here’s where things took a dip. As a non-picky eater, I didn’t expect much—but even then, I struggled to find meals I genuinely enjoyed. On some days, I ended up with just plain pasta and chips, which is far from ideal. However, if you’re a fish lover, you’ll be in your element—they serve it frequently.
Unfortunately, many of the reviews I’d read beforehand were accurate: the food is often cold and stale. Heated plates help a little, but they don’t fix the problem. The buffet options lack variety and excitement, and vegetarians or those with dietary needs may really struggle here.
Now onto a slightly more positive note—the alcoholic drinks. I had read claims that the drinks were watered down, but I can confirm that is definitely not true. In fact, the drinks were strong, sometimes too strong!
That said, the cocktails were a letdown—overly sweet and not well mixed. My partner, however, was happy to find San Miguel on tap, which was a welcome surprise.
The all-inclusive bar closes at 11PM, but you can still buy drinks until midnight, which is a good option if you want a late-night drink.
Puerto de la Cruz is a quaint and quieter part of Tenerife, especially compared to the busy south. But be aware—if you’re looking for nightlife, you won’t find much here.
There’s no real bar scene nearby, and even as a couple not looking to party, we found ourselves with very little to do in the evenings. The local town is charming but dominated by fish restaurants, which again isn’t ideal for everyone.
We booked several excursions, but they all took place in southern Tenerife, meaning we had to endure two-hour transfers each way—worth it for the day trips, but a bit exhausting after a while.
Service across the board was… okay. Staff were polite and professional, but they didn’t go out of their way to make you feel special or looked after, which you sometimes get with better all-inclusive resorts. Nothing bad, but nothing memorable either.
But if you’re expecting an international, tourist-friendly vibe with good food, lively surroundings, and excellent service, this probably isn’t the place. There are better options in Tenerife for similar prices, especially if you’re willing to stay in the south (like Costa Adeje or las Américas).
It’s not terrible, but it’s very average. With a few tweaks (especially to the food and inclusivity of activities), this hotel could be much better. Until then, I’d say do your research and weigh your expectations—this hotel suits Spanish families and locals more than...
Read moreNot 4* at all! Far from! Stayed here for 9 nights, the rooms were spacious and nice bathroom which definitely saves the place. On our third day there we sunbathed by the pool and up to this point I didn’t really have too many complaints tbf it was the expected standard of a hotel within the canaries, however, a situation has led to this low review. On the third day a lady by the pool at 11am was wobbling all over the place and appeared to be under the influence, she kept tripping on sun loungers and went up continually to get bottles of water due to not realising she’d only been up moments before and seemed super confused, this lady sat infront of me and I had concern for her safety as the pool was empty this day for some reason, the lifeguard noticed and approached her and said to stay sat and he will check on her in an hour, she continued to get up and walk around and after 10 minutes he said go up to your room she refused and another staff member told her to go up and after 15 minutes of crying whilst trying to relax they got her moved! However, she came back down and the lifeguard stated “not my problem” and she then proceeded to fall over the lounger infront of me, split her face open, her nose and tooth was bleeding and blood was over the floor, myself and my boyfriend had to pick her up as the staff just looked and ignored and then after time they came over! We asked the lady from reception who came to call and ambulance and she said no there’s no point even though this woman was confused, battered and bruised all over and her face had begun swelling. 3 hours later this woman reappeared in a different outfit stumbling still but with a massive face and bruises. I asked the lifeguard to remove her as I felt scarred from watching this lady knock herself out infron t of me and it ruined my trip and he said no not my issue and just stood by the bar. We left the pool as I felt uncomfortable and didn’t want to witness anymore injury or harm to this woman. I feel that the lack of care from the staff particularly by the pool was disgraceful and the lifeguards attitude was awful. I feel that this situation ruined many people’s day no one could relax as there was constant fear of this woman falling down stairs or over loungers and we all spoke about worry she would seriously injure or kill herselg and there was no action taken at all by any member of staff and also no apologies to any paying customers. This woman continued to Roam the hotel days after and covered in scars and bruises and all staff continued to ignore her as she did laps looking confused and injured it was completely disrespectful to other guests to tolerate this. I feel this holiday has left me feeling scarred from the harm I witnessed and I didn’t feel comfortable in the hotel after this as it didn’t present as a safe environment with any rules or boundaries and hence we spent most the time apart from sleeping elsewhere due to not regulation over other guests behaviours etc, they state they have policies but don’t follow these at all, there’s a no care attitude. One of the waiters in the food area was extremely rude and left us sat 20 minutes without a drink, I got up to ask for some water at the bar and he told me to go away and sit down and he will come over and 10 minutes later nothing, a couple next to us did the same thing and he was extremely rude to them and then came over and slammed water down on our table and swore which made us feel uncomfortable. If you want a holiday which has no rules or safety concerns then please book. ||||Marco was lovely and the men on the pool bar were also amazing and so attentive and this really made the beginning of the experience shine and we were so excited for our week left until the incident. Yes the food is abit minging but it’s comparable to other places I’ve stayed in Tenerife over the years so can’t complain and it was expected there was choice but as a fussy eater it wasn’t for me! ||Would...
Read moreI have just returned from a lovely holiday in Puerto de la Cruz where I stayed 10 nights, half board at the Be Live Hotel.
First, the hotel location is ideal. The beach is a 2 minute walk down the street and about a 15 minute walk to Puerto de la Cruz town centre. There are also plenty nearby shops, mini supermarkets, bars, restaurants and a pharmacy.
My room was a twin room with a balcony view. I was lucky enough to have wonderful views of Puerto de la Cruz town, the hills, Teide as well as the beach. The room was perfect. It was a big room and the high ceiling meant it was cool enough on and evening. I did not need to use the air conditioning at night, despite it being July/August! The bed and pillows were comfortable, the bathroom was ideal. The room attendants at this hotel do an excellent job. I'd return every day to fresh towels, swept floors and a neatly made bed. The attendants are also very friendly and will always say hello when they pass you in the corridors. I had a late flight so paid 30 euros for a late check out til 4pm, which was ideal. On my last day, the attendant brought a large, complimentary bottle of water which was incredibly kind. The room also included a safe, a mini fridge and a very spacious wardrobe.
Next, the restaurant. Buffet breakfast is amazing. There's a huge array of food from cooked breakfast to pastries, pancakes, fresh fruit and so much more. On an evening, the waiters were very prompt to take drinks orders. The waiting staff are very friendly and the chefs working the stations are also very accommodating and very friendly. Buffet dinner was amazing every night. They have something different on most nights, from veal to paella and so much more. They also have a lovely array of desserts.
The pool area is wonderful. Tuesdays to Saturdays there is pilates and yoga as well as aqua-aerobics happening from 11am-1pm. There are a lot of sunbeds and umbrellas and there are tables and chairs by the pool bar you can sit at as well as a lovely sun terrace which has shaded areas, should you wish to cool off. The pool is a good size and there is a much smaller and shallower pool next to the main pool, should you wish to chill out and cool down.
Evening entertainment during my stay was singers, tribute acts, even a bingo night as well as a fantastic piano player, Josué López who is very talented. On an evening, the bar is open and you can sit in the entertainment room, bar area, the very spacious and comfortable lounge or out on the terrace should you wish.
Finally, I would like to say how wonderful the staff at the Be Live Hotel are. The reception staff are so, so lovely and will do everything they can to help you at any hour of the day or night. The waiting/bar staff as well as the chefs in the restaurant are all very friendly and accommodating. The twins who work here are especially entertaining! One would often perform tricks by the pool with a football, often whilst doing handstands. They hosted a bingo one night which was a good laugh for all. They also were both very kind and helpful during my stay and always greet you with a smile when you arrive at the restaurant for dinner. If the manager of the hotel happens to read this review, please pass on my thanks and gratitude to ALL of your staff. They work so hard, are so wonderful and are always smiling.
All in all, a wonderful stay at this hotel in Puerto de la Cruz. It was my first time in Tenerife and I will most definitely be back to the area and this hotel in particular. I will hopefully be back later this year, if not,...
