We arrived late in the afternoon and received a very warm welcome from Rafael. Upon check-in, guests are offered a complimentary drink—cava, juice, or water—which can be redeemed at their convenience.|The property is located between two roads, so noise can be an issue, especially for rooms closer to the ground floor. The hotel layout places reception on the 5th floor, with the breakfast area, bar, and pool situated nearby. There are two lifts on the opposite side of the hotel, but with 12 floors, wait times can be long.|A back entrance provides access to Playa de Inglés, approximately 300 meters away. The road leading to the beach slopes downward, something to keep in mind for the return walk to the hotel. ||Car parking: plenty of on street parking OR €10/day inside the hotel property (entrance at the front) ||Room: We booked a standard room and were allocated one on the 6th floor. Fortunately, it wasn’t located over the restaurant, but we did experience traffic noise from the back.|The apartment is clean and modern, with all hard surfaces except for the bed and sofa. The kitchen is fully equipped with a kettle, microwave, fridge, plates and bowls, cutlery, a tea towel, an extractor fan, and a cooking hob.|One downside is that the air conditioning condenser unit is on the balcony by the bedroom window, producing a constant hum throughout the night. The TV is well positioned but offers only one English channel (BBC World News).|The shower room has a few maintenance issues—the extractor fan is clogged with fluff (a quick vacuum would fix it), the shower screen doesn’t fully prevent water from spilling onto the bathroom floor, and the provided hand soap and shampoo are quite drying to the skin. On the plus side, the safe is available free of charge.|Hangers are plastic, which I prefer over the noisy metal ones. Our room had a balcony, but since it faced northeast, it received no direct sunlight. The deck chairs provided in the balcony was too big for the space and very uncomfortable as you are unable to recline. The view overlooked two jacuzzis, another hotel’s pool, and the road, so we didn’t end up using it. ||Food: The food has been flavorsome and well thought-out, with a simple yet satisfying menu. Breakfast includes the usual selection of cold meats, continental breads, salads, fruit, hot dishes, and four variations of eggs. Impressively, this is the only hotel I’ve stayed at in Spain that serves English sausages every morning! The coffee machine also offers decaf options, which is a rare find at a buffet breakfast.|Lunch and pizza options are available, though we didn’t try them. Dinner has been appetizing, featuring themed nights. The chefs are efficient at replenishing dishes before they run out, ensuring a well-stocked buffet.|However, the servers have limited English proficiency, which led to some miscommunication. At one point, they cleared our cutlery while we were still eating! We had to quickly recall some Spanish words for cutlery just to finish our meal—a moment that amusingly brought to mind Manuel from Fawlty Towers! ||Lounge: There is plenty of outdoor space to relax, with lounge areas enhanced by outdoor heaters that provide both warmth and ambiance. However, since the property is located by the road, the sound of passing delivery vans and coaches can be noticeable.|The perimeter wall has gaps in the fencing, which can make the area feel a bit exposed—almost like being in a fishbowl—as passersby can easily peek through.||The service has been satisfactory, with staff always welcoming and friendly. Spa services are available, though they can be found at lower prices in nearby shopping centers.|A supermarket is conveniently located right in front of the hotel, which has been especially useful since only one liter of still water was provided for our entire five-day stay, and there is no drinking water facility on the property.|The hotel's location is a major advantage, offering easy access to both the beach and nearby shopping centers. Ask for a higher floor and maybe you will not hear the...
Read moreI suppose it depends what you want from a holiday how you rate it. If you want to read your book, eat breakfast or enjoy evening drinks on your balcony in the sunshine this place isn't for you. At least half of the apartments face north and most get only an hour or so of sun from 8am or no sun whatsoever at any point in the day.||We were in room 402 with no sun at any time of the day. We requested a room swap. Nothing available on the day of our arrival but we were offered another room the next day, although we'd have to vacate our room and hang around till midafternoon when the other room would be ready. We were willing to go through this hassle to get some sunshine. Reception staff were helpful but the hotel was full, this being peak season. ||I happened to read reviews on trip advisor and the 1st review posted on 2nd Feb 25 was about room 609 which we were about to move into. OMG we dodged a bullet by reading the awful review ! The reviewer found the 2 kitchen extraction fans beneath their balcony making noise 24/7 and dripping aircon! So we declined room 609 and stayed in non sunny room 402 for the rest of our holiday. It definitely adversely impacted our enjoyment of the holiday. ||The apartments are clean, modern and refurbished but with several drawbacks- shower screen doesn't stop water spraying onto bathroom floor, bathroom sink drains very slowly, lack of basic holiday kitchen equipment like wine glasses, sharp knife, egg cups etc, deck chairs on balcony incredibly uncomfortable, only 1 English speaking TV channel- BBC world news. The room safe is however free of charge and rooms are cleaned daily and the beds are comfy. We have however stayed in 3 star apartments which are better.||Others have commented on the lack of sunbeds around pool. We found outside areas to be very modern and never very busy. Never had a problem getting a sunbed although admittedly we rarely went poolside. Sunbeds were very comfy. From our non sunny balcony we could see 2 Jacuzzis and numerous bali style loungers- there was never a shortage at any time of day. The grounds were very well maintained. ||Others have commented on noise- it is a bit noisy but no worse than other hotels. There is traffic noise and the usual banging doors / people talking, but nothing excessive. Closing all windows and doors did block a lot of the road noise. Unfortunately over the last couple of days, workmen set up music speakers around outside area. Quite pleasant during day but very annoying during night. Went on till 2am!||There is a SuperDino supermarket 3mins walk from the front of the apartments. Cross road in front of hotel and walk behind white building ahead- Gold hotel. It has freshly baked goods all day. ||The Yumo shopping with lots of restaurants is a 7 minute walk away. Seems to be a lot of clubs/shows for the LGBGQ+ community and swingers.||The apartments are located a 10minute walk from the beach. We walked along the beach to the impressive Maspolomas sand dunes. ||We didn't eat meals in the Anamar; there are plenty of restaurants overlooking the beach- most are reasonably priced. The Taj indian restaurant overlooking the beach was superb.||We caught the no. 39 bus from the Yumbo centre to Puerto Rico-€2.75/person each way. There is a timetable on line but the bus driver seemed unaware!- the bus runs approximately hourly. Puerto Rico was very busy- beach was rammed with folk- very commercial. ||The resort of Maspalonas is great but we would not wish to stay in Anamar suites since we come on holiday to enjoy the sunshine, something we definitely couldn't access whilst staying in...
