My friend and I visited La Gomera last weekend, and found this hostel on the internet and booked it beforehand, so we wouldn't have to look when we arrived. We booked the cheapest we could find, so a room for 2 with shared bathroom. ||On the website it said that check-in could happen between 12.30pm - 00.00am. When we got there at 12.30 we were told in an unfriendly manner that "of course the room was not ready yet" and she kept saying "later" without giving us a specific hour. A bit annoying, but not really a problem, so we left and said we'd be back later then and just go see the island. ||When we came back at 8pm to check-in we were received by the same lady, who asked us what we were doing checking in so late, that she thought we left for somewhere else since we did not come back earlier. She told us that we should feel VERY lucky that she still had a room for us. As we informed her that in the booking it said check-in until midnight, she got mad an said "this is not a hotel!". We were a bit shocked by the treatment, but just wanted to pay and get our room, and then not talk to her anymore. But as we had just put our money on the table and were about to get our room, we were informed that the room we had reserved was not free, as the people there had decided to stay longer (what!?) but that she had another one with private bathroom free. Very strange since we had reserved that exact room, but no problem.. until she wanted us to pay 10 euros more for that room!!! And there was no moment where she excused for all of this mess. All the time angry with us and very impolite. We decided to collect our money and leave that place and that decision was the best we made in La Gomera! If you want to make sure you have a place to lay your head prior to your stay, DO...
Read moreI really enjoyed my stay here. I found it to be a good budget hotel. The room was clean, spacious and ensuite. The bed was very comfortable and firm and the shower was hot with good water pressure. There were plenty of towels and the room was cleaned every day and towels replaced as needed. Little details like a good sized mirror, sign showing the wifi code and good internet connection make all the difference. There was fridge outside my room which was very handy and a little very basic kitchen on the roof terrace upstairs. Don't expect a well-equipped modern kitchen but it does the job for a cup of coffee or a toasted sandwich. I also got the impression that there were a sociable bunch and it would have been fairly easy to make friends had I stayed a bit longer. Don't expect uniform perfection. Do expect comfy beds and a...
Read morePensión Hesperides is good option if you would like to stay in San Sebastian for a short time. The rooms are spacious and clean with nice private bathroom & free WIFI... for 20-25€ /night it's really good value. Location is central and you will find the place easily, walking distance from the port. Many restaurants and cafes around (but i don't recommend "El Pajarito" next door). I will be definately going back if i ever stay in San Sebastian again. Check-In/Check-Out is fast & easy also. Just ring the doorbell and in few minutes you are comfortably...
