Exceptional We had a perfect stay at Hotel & Spa El Tejar on the weekend. Great location in the mountains, the view and atmosphere is perfect if you want same peace and relaxation and ideal for exploring Tenerife and hiking. Hotel with colonial architecture and very nice vibe. The staff was super friendly and amazing. Very clean room and comfortable bed. A very cozy area near the reception with soft sofas, where it’s fashionable to drink tea, chat with friends or work quietly. Nice pool and pool area. It is a pity we do not use spa zone but it looked great. The breakfast was exceptional, lots of fresh and homemade food. We found fresh fruits, vegetables, granola and yogurts, choices of salami, prosciutto and jamon, different cheeses, bacon & eggs, especially liked homemade omlette with tomatoes and potatoes, coffee machine, tea choices. We also had a wonderful evening meal there with their local dishes. A good choice if you want to taste local living vibe in a comfortable way. We will definitely get back there on our next visit to island

Very good price but bad service. We spent a day in the hotel on our way to the Teide. The price was very good and we picked the hotel based on the good reviews. Location: Excellent location on your way to Teide. Rooms: Good value for money. Mattresses could have been improved. Rooms were clean. Also we found it a little strange you need to pay a 10 Euro deposit for the TV remotes. Service: The staff speaks very little English. When waiting for dinner we received the wrong food. During the morning we had to wait for an hour for our food. Breakfast is no buffet which is fine but then please provide a menu. Also what could be good is to just offer everyone the same breakfast package in a box in case you don't want to do breakfast. Food: It was ok. For dinner and breakfast we both didn't receive what we ordered.

The Hotel El Tejar is a nice, family run hotel in the beautiful town of Vilaflor de Chasna. The rooms are spacious with local flair, a comfortable bed and all amenities needed. Internet was with a good speed. During my visit, the restaurant was only open for breakfast, however the owner is looking forward to re-open it for dinner too. Breakfast was a nice, small buffet and you could order egg dishes. The cold items were changed daily, staying several days, it never gets bored. In the courtyard there is a small Jacuzzi and sun lounger to relax after a busy day. If you prefer the sauna, just book the time at the reception. I will be back on my next trip to Tenerife.

This is a small hotel at the lower end of Vilaflor. It has 14 rooms split between the ground floor and an upper floor.||Check-in was easy enough and we were shown where our room was located, which was a decent size, a comfortable bed, and a good size bathroom, a desk plus two easy chairs.||We had booked half board for our stay, and as we arrived early evening we headed straight for the restaurant.||There were 8 tables set for dinner in the dining room, but it was rather chilly. There was a very good choice of starters, main courses and desserts, and the drinks prices were reasonable.||We were really impressed with the choice and the quality of the food when it arrived, with all the dishes prepared from scratch by the chef. We had to wait a while as she was on her own, but that didn't matter, with some bread, wine and beer to keep us going.||Breakfasts were equally as good, with everything brought to your table apart from coffee and juice, where you could help yourselves. Daily there was fruit, yoghurt, cheese & meat, rolls, toast & jam, plus a hot dish (fritata/scrambled eggs/omlette/fried egg)||The breakfasts were similar but slightly different each day, and there was always more than you could eat, even for someone like myself with a good appetite.||So all in all, a really good choice of accommodation in Vilaflor, and I would recommend it to anyone.||There is also a comfortable lounge area close to reception, with some books to choose if you wish.||As we were here in February the outdoor pool and sun loungers were not available to use, but there are some outdoor seats at the front of the hotel for when it is sunny and warm, as the front of the hotel catches the sun in the afternoon.||There is also a private Spa, with a hot tub and sauna, which needs to be booked a day or two in advance, as it is popular. The cost is €30 for an hour's private session. We tried this early one evening after a long hike, along with some chilled Cava that we had pre-ordered. ||Throughout our stay all the staff very very courteous and professional in their service. ||An only very small criticism was that there was no heating turned on in the dining room, even though there were some radiators There was a small log fire which was lit at the start of dinner service each evening, but it didn't really throw out any heat, it was more for effect really. This being winter time with the outside temperature around 5-6c in early evening and morning, it would have felt that much more comfortable with a little background heating whilst having dinner, rather than having to eat dressed in your coat/jumper/scarf etc. as...

The room itself had a Terrific shower. Extra blankets came in handy as the room was a bit cool and central heating only operates 3pm – 9pm. (It was noticeably warmer in the reception area where they had heaters). There were ample proper hangers. If you leaned out the window you could see the sea, but if you are here to hike Mt Teide, you will be happy here. We really appreciated the kettle in the room, which was absolutely superb after a long day of travelling and then coming back after hiking the next day. We were also grateful for the 2 small bottles of water and the fridge. The lighting was good for planning for the next day. Good Wifi and plugs by the bed-- I even found an adaptor to plug in multiple items, but it's possible that was left by a previous guest.||Nice breakfast, with a series of plates brought to the table which had subtly different accompaniments each day, including the Best Mandarins I've ever tasted. The Canary Islands Bananas had such intense flavour and we really appreciated the fresh fruit, which was different each day. There was a choice of fried or scrambled eggs or Spanish omelette. A big selection of ham and cheeses was served to us the 1st morning. We explained that I am a vegetarian and my husband doesn’t eat ham, so we asked to only be given the cheeses the next day, which were so generous, there was no need for any additional food. The 2nd morning we still had hard cheeses, but also Terrific cream cheese-- like it used to taste-- and walnuts & figs, which was unexpected and gracious. Cherry cake on the 2nd day was delicious. There was a jug of different Fresh juice each day. Coffee from the machine was fine and you could add an extra shot of espresso if needed.||It was ok, but a little bit odd that the reception area to the hotel closes around 7pm (it may have been 7:30) and you cannot pass through it, so you might need to use an outside staircase. They mentioned it at check-in, but we thought they meant it would be unstaffed. We didn’t realise we wouldn’t have access through it.||Also, nothing to do with the hotel, but for anyone staying in Vilaflor, I’d advise you to plan for an early evening meal. Only 3 restaurants in the whole town were open, even for an early dinner. (Reviews for the two where we went coming soon). We assumed we could fall back on bar snacks, but even the local bar was...
