Ellen's Place — Hotel in Colombo

We stayed in the very clean deluxe double room for four nights and our 4th and final accommodation of a lovely long holiday. The room is magnificent, very high ceiling, lovely comfy super king four poster bed, sofa area and very large bathroom, even with bath jacuzzi which was all show and not much performance. The bedroom had two aircon units because the room is so big and the first time in weeks I slept without a direct draft. The bed was very comfy and having a kettle for hot drinks was lovely. ||The fashion feature was the shower being open to the elements, making the bathroom a different temperature to the bedroom. This also didn’t help with insect like Cockroaches visiting, not what you want to meet for that midnight pee!! ||We had no problem with mosquitoes in the room which was a plus. Breakfast was ok, only two set choices, not all of us eat that much! We had better breakfasts elsewhere for half the price. Staff where very nice, youngest being very shy. We received a restaurant suggestion which was great. The pool was cool and great for those hot city feet, it’s not a swimming pool. ||We where very surprised that most Tuk Tuk driver don’t know there way round their own city! My second visit and I love this little hotel. The staff go out of their way to provide a comfortable, personal service. The environment is cosy but elegant, and exudes tropical simplicity with exotic flora, featuring a glorious temple tree in the courtyard.||It's such a bonus to have a cool , quiet pool to dip into in the centre of the metropolis. The food here is excellent, particularly the jack fruit curry and the Sri Lankan breakfast.||Ellen's Place may be a little out of the way of the main tourist area of Colombo but it definitely provides value for money, comfort and the opportunity to take an adventurous tuk tuk...

Had a lovely stay here at Ellen’s Place for 3 nights. Excellently located just 5 min from the hustle and bustle of central Colombo, this property has a luxurious boutique feel and a fabulous plunge pool in a gorgeous little shady courtyard. We stayed in a suit which was spacious and well appointed. ||Breakfast at Ellen’s place was simple, fresh and well flavoured consisting of fresh fruit and eggs cooked to order.
