Overall the hotel is decorated extremely well. It looks amazing and everything is of very high quality. The staff are friendly, and mostly very helpful. There are several aspects though that are really quite unnecessarily disappointing.
The restaurants are nice, and the food we tried was good, but it feels as though the waiters are a little inexperienced. They served our food to the wrong table, so we had to wait additionally for ours. They take your wine bottle to the back to keep it cold, but forget to actually serve you the wine you ordered. Also, 0.8L of bottled water is CHF14 which is really just insulting.
On our last night there was a group getting extremely loud and drunk behind us. This continued to the extent where one was pretending to pee on the floor. They were all shouting and pretending to film him doing this, it was not discreet, and their solution was to bring them more drinks. It was absolutely unacceptable behaviour and ruined what was otherwise a nice evening. This really should have been stopped immediately, but instead went on until we were tired of their behaviour and left. Far from what I would expect for this standard of hotel.
In general, the facilities cannot cope with the size of hotel. This is evident from the large queue at breakfast. They charge an enormous amount for breakfast, and it really should not have to be a 15 minute wait just to be seated for what was otherwise a very mediocre buffet.
In addition to the above, there is a shuttle that takes skiers from the hotel to the train station. For whatever reason this shuttle goes only once every 30 minutes. It is also a very small shuttle which is often too full, meaning you will sometimes have to wait an additional 30 minutes. Since there is also no queue system people know it can be difficult to get a spot and will push through to get their skis on first. It is a 5 minute drive, and the hotel was full. I cannot see any reason for not having the shuttle run as frequently as possible. Every shuttle was absolute chaos to get a spot, and it seems totally unnecessary.
The spa. I've never seen anything quite like it. As is a running theme for this hotel, there are simply not enough spaces for the number of people at the hotel. It is simply too small. It also allows children all day until 6pm, which means for most of the day the spa is far from a quiet sanctuary of calm, and more like a waterpark. This is made more immersive by the entire spa flooding with water due to the splashing. You can't wear slippers in the spa since they would be drenched just walking to and from whatever space you managed to claim. They have hired a person whose sole job it is to try and stem the tide of this flood, but its completely futile.
The rooms themselves are modern, light, and well decorated. The bed was comfy and the view was incredible. Some design decisions I would question. There is no bathroom door that actually closes. They saw this was an issue so the toilet has an additional door inside the bathroom that also doest really close. Our shower was broken, but thankfully they fixed it quickly. Most egregiously, though, the insulation between rooms is quite lacking. A symphony of footsteps coming from everywhere until the early hours of the morning kept us up at night. The wall also shakes quite a bit depending on whatever your neighbours may be doing. Again, this is not something I would expect from such a hotel.
Overall, we did have a nice time at the alpengold despite all this. I simply have to give it two stars because the price they charge to stay there demands better standards. It seems to do some of the more difficult things well, and completely fails on much more...

This establishment surpassed all of my expectations, delivering an experience that seamlessly merges luxury, comfort, and culture.
Quality of Room: From the moment I walked into my room, it was evident that meticulous attention had been paid to every detail. The room was spacious, elegantly furnished, and adorned with modern amenities that cater to the needs of even the most discerning traveler. What particularly struck me was the quality of the bedding; the mattress and pillows seemed almost customized for an incredibly restful sleep. High-speed Wi-Fi, a state-of-the-art entertainment system, and an opulent bathroom complete with high-end toiletries made my stay exceedingly comfortable.

As a foodie, I have to commend the dining options available. Multiple restaurants in the hotel serve an eclectic mix of local and international cuisine, all prepared to perfection. The buffet breakfast is a feast you wouldn't want to miss, offering everything from traditional Swiss dishes to vegan options.
Location: The hotel’s location is incredibly convenient, particularly for those attending the annual January meeting of the World Economic Forum, which AlpenGold Hotel proudly supports as the main accommodation venue. Located in the heart of Davos, the hotel offers easy access to ski slopes, hiking trails, and local attractions. The views of the Swiss Alps from the room and the hotel premises are simply mesmerizing.
The Golden Egg Architecture: A point that sets this hotel apart is its iconic "golden egg" architecture, making it instantly recognizable and a topic of conversation worldwide. This design marvel is not just aesthetically pleasing but also thoughtfully planned, as the structure elegantly complements its Alpine surroundings.
Final Thoughts: AlpenGold Hotel isn't just a place to stay; it's an experience, a lifestyle, and a testament to Swiss hospitality at its finest. If Davos is your destination, making AlpenGold your residence will undoubtedly enhance your trip.

My husband booked this hotel thinking it was a 5-star place with real quality. But what we experienced was nothing short of a nightmare. Especially the game room (Teenclub) was completely taken over every evening by the same large Arab family. We went there several times – at 6:30 PM, again two hours later, and again later – and each time it was the same group: extremely loud, disrespectful, and aggressive. They monopolized all the games, constantly switching among themselves, and never gave anyone else a chance. When our son tried to play, they reacted aggressively.
We reported the situation to reception multiple times. A staff member came, said something, and left – but nothing changed. My husband had to speak to another staff member, who finally gave our son a console, but that triggered the group. Three men from the family came toward my husband aggressively. Our son was terrified, and I had an asthma attack due to the stress. We had to leave immediately.
If we hadn’t left, we might not be at home today – we could have ended up in a hospital. That’s how unsafe it felt. The group’s aggression and the hotel’s complete silence were unacceptable. Even a staff member admitted: “We’ve had problems with them before.” That tells you everything you need to know about the level of safety.
No apology, no action from the management. No rules, no protection, and no accountability.
The hotel is located at the very edge of a small village – not convenient at all. Parking is another issue: outside spaces are limited, and if you’re unlucky, you’ll need to pay CHF 25 per day to park inside.
The weather was rainy and cold (8°C), so we tried to enjoy the pool instead. The indoor pool was freezing – supposedly 30°C, but everyone who went in immediately got out. The outdoor pool was slightly warmer, but it’s open-air, and with rain and cold wind, it was nearly useless.
Another big disappointment was the balcony. Yes, there is one, but it’s built so high that it’s impossible to sit and enjoy the view. It looks nice from the outside, but once you’re inside, you start to see the real picture very clearly.
Very few staff spoke German, even though this is a German-speaking region of Switzerland – everything was in English.
This place is absolutely not suitable for families with children. For us, it wasn’t a vacation – it was a traumatic experience. Unsafe, unorganized, and completely lacking hospitality. This hotel has absolutely nothing to do...
