Our group of 6 persons stayed 6-7 nights at this 3-stars Hotel Jungfraublick in February 2022. It is located at the quiet side and other end of main street. It is not a ski-in, ski-out hotel but the Gondola is about 5-10 mins walk away.
Transport - When you arrive at the train station, you should call for free hotel shuttle to pick you up. Otherwise, it is a good 10-15 mins walk of about 150-200 metres from the train station, through the main street and up a very steep hill. We all got very fit after walking up this hill for 6-7 days!
Hotel – Building and furniture are dated but overall still in good condition and kept very clean. Our group was warmly welcomed by the Hotel Manager, Viktor, who made sure everything went well during our stay.
Meals – Breakfast (included in room package) were a decent selection of croissants, meats, cheese, yogurt, cereals, fruits and decent coffee machine. No omelettes, bacon and sausages for breakfast.
However, they do serve 3-course dinner at CHF35 which was good value and delicious for their veal in Zurich style. Restaurant closes on Mondays & Tuesday so you'll need to make own dinner arrangements. Ask Viktor to recommend some of his favourite restaurants in ski village.
Storage - Although hotel has a locker at basement, you should rent your skis and boots and keep them at Intersport, which is close to Gondola. This saves the trouble of carry both boots and skis to Gondola.
Communal Areas – There are chill-out areas for drinks, library, table tennis and snooker at reception level. Great places to hangout after a day’s skiing and post-dinner.
Highly recommended - This hotel is a gem at reasonable price. While it's not a modern hotel and not the closest to Gondola, it made up with excellent service from Viktor (Manager) & Fabrizio...
Read moreI was appalled and frankly disgusted with the lack of empathy, concern and duty of care shown by the receptionist Victor and the lack of basic amenities. One of our party on the second day of our stay (Thursday) had an accident on the slope and ended up in a full leg brace. Our transfer company let us down at the last minute so we had to get to Lauterbrunnen earlier than expected to ensure we didn't miss our flight. Victor refused to take our injured friend to the train station, stating that he was going home and didn't care to stay longer. (even though he had a mini bus parked outside)He then tried to charge us for a night transfer that we would not be having as we were having to leave earlier . He had told us earlier that we would have to pay the driver direct. He was aware that we were unable to secure any other transportation but just left and our group had to make our own way on foot to the train station, one of us on crutches and in a full leg brace. As to the amenities there was no free shuttle bus, the restaurant that Victor had confirmed would be open Thursday to Sunday, was in fact closed. The free tea and coffee machine was out of water the 4 evenings we were there, and with reception closed as early as 6:30pm no way of refilling the machine as Victor stated that he was unable to leave a jug of water as it was too messy. The rolls at breakfast were stale and hard and there seemed to be less selection of food items as our stay progressed. Quite frankly we would have probably have got better service at a hostel. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone. The only positive thing is that...
Read moreDear Daniel and Hotel Jungfraublick Management,||||I stayed at your hotel for 3 nights from 16th July to 19th July(checked out today) and I had an extremely disappointing experience on checkout, with your receptionist Andreas who was on duty today.||||I had told Andreas that I will be a bit late to checkout as I had a very large number of bags, and I’ll try to do it asap, to which he agreed.||||As I had a lot of bags and my wife was not feeling well, it took us 1 hr extra over 11 am, that is we were ready to checkout at 12 noon. When I cMe to the reception at 12 to hand the key over, Andreas was on lunch(told to me by hotel staff) and I decided to come back later. I returned at 12:30, and Andreas had charged me 150 francs without informing me this earlier for a late checkout. When we’re trying to reason with him about this fee being not agreed or informed to me, he was very rude to me and especially my wife. Ultimately in a very insulting manner he said he will issue a refund if we left the hotel immediately.||||This man is a liability to your hotel, and has disappointed and made me and my wife sad vrry much on our departure from your hotel. We wont ever return to the hotel because of this, but I do want to also want to recognise the kindness of of other staff that made us feel welcome - Maar, Chef Rimauld, Nathalie, and Jose are real...
