Excellent location 5 minute walk from Wenden Train Station - That's It! The hotel is in an excellent location. It's a short walk from the Wenden Train Station and Coop supermarket through the village. The receptiion check-in was excellent - that's it! My wife and I had room 105 for 3 nights. The room was small, it was difficult to regulate the hot water in the sink outside the tiny shower & bathroom toilet. No shampoo or conditioner provided. Our double bed was uncomfortable. On the terrace - be very careful. There are wooden floorboards cracked that need to be repaired. It's a safety hazard. If the chairs aren't positioned correctly - you may fall over. It happend to me but I was unhurt. There's also a metal support bar in front of the table - another safety hazard if you don't see it in the dark. I tripped twice. There's no kettle or tea bags provided in the room. You must rent a kettle for a 20.00 Swiss franc deposit & pick up tea bags at the reception area. Upon checking out on August 25th - we waited 20 minutes for Mark to show up at the reception to check out and have our 20 Swiss franc deposit returned for the kettle. Not good because we had a train to catch within 45 minutes. Also, if you shop at the Coop supermarket for food, snacks, etc. - there isn't a refrigerator in the room. If you need a knife & forth - you'll be charged 1 Swiss franc for 1 set of a plastic fork & knife. We opted out of paying 12 Swiss francs per person for breakfast. It was a typical continental breakfast - nothing special at all. No elevator. If you book - which I don't recommend - ask for a higher level floor. Our room (105) on the first floor was noisy at times caused by hotel guests above our room on the 2nd floor wqlking bqck & forth in their room.

Our first meal upon checking into the hotel was delightful, especially the steak, which was absolutely delicious. My husband thoroughly enjoyed it as well. The server was both friendly and polite, taking the time to explain each dish and the beverage menu in detail, which we really appreciated. We booked a triple room, and it met our expectations. Everything was organized and clean, and the bed was comfortable. Although the room came with a shared bathroom and washroom, both were impeccably clean. The only challenge we faced was hauling our luggage up to the 4th floor, but we were prepared for this after doing some research prior to booking. Checking in was a breeze, and the front desk staff greeted us warmly. The location is excellent—just a 3-minute walk from the station, as most reviews mentioned. There’s a supermarket right in front of the station that has everything you might need, but be aware that it closes at 6 pm, so plan accordingly. Self-laundry facilities, about a 10-minute walk away. There are only two washers and two dryers, so you might have to wait if it’s busy. We did our laundry, but the drying process took longer than expected, and since the laundry facility closes at 9 pm, we couldn’t collect our clothes in time. We returned the next morning at 8 am when it opened, and thankfully, everything was still there, perfectly dry. Each 3 kg load costs CHF 5 per session, so make sure you have some coins ready. We’ve booked for a week, and this is our second night. So far, our stay has been comfortable and well worth the price.

We stayed at this hotel for a few nights in a room for four people. The room was basic, but reasonable for the price, especially during what I’d imagine is peak summer season. For us, the restaurant was the highlight. We ate there both nights we stayed in the hotel, and besides enjoying the 10% discount for those staying there, we also thoroughly enjoyed the food and the service. The portions were huge - and this is coming from an American, so that’s a compliment. And more importantly, everything tasted really good! In these touristy mountain towns, restaurants can get away with selling mediocre food to tourists for inflated prices. The food at Bernerhof was really good, and there was loads of it. I’d rate their “Älplermagaronen” up there with the best I’ve had around Switzerland. The schnitzel came with *two* whole pieces of fried pork - One would have been reasonable. The staff was also super nice and accommodating of my kids’ many requests. In short, save yourself the effort of going around to all the hotel restaurants and looking at the menus posted in the window (spoiler alert: they all have the same dishes!) or searching around on Google (spoiler alert: they all have about 4.0 star average reviews!) and eat here.

This hotel is the worst one among the hotels I've ever stayed at around the world! Bad facilities, rude stuff, poor environment. The setting of this hotel is, the first floor of the building is a restaurant and 2nd above is the hotel with the same owner. The facilities are pretty old and some of them are broken or not functioning properly. There is no A/C, no fan, no refrigerator, no microwave, no coffee/tea....in the room. The staffs there were not friendly. When they met guests they just ignore and even when I said hi to them they didn't have any response. The front desk was taken care of by the restaurant waitress/waiter. They came late and stop the service early (they might be there in the evening when the restaurant is still open if you are lucky). There is a terrace right outside my room window (on the same level). They run a bar there. At the first two nights the bar, even though it was a bit noisy, got quite after 9:00pm or 10:00pm. So I could sleep and had no complaint about it. At the last night, it was pretty noisy. The bar played music and their customers were chatting there loudly, even after 11:00 they won't stop. I normally go to bad at 10:00pm and get up early. But the noise made me hard to fall into sleep. At around 11:15 I went down to the front desk and I was lucky that there happened to be a staff there. I complained to her about the noise and asked her to make them quite so I can sleep. Know what she said? It's out of our control! So ridiculous, unprofessional and make no any sense. It's your property. You tell me that it's out of your control?? I paid a couple hundreds dollars to buy your service. Maintaining a proper environment that I can sleep is one of the basic services you must provide. It's my right as a customer! If you did not meet the requirement it's your responsibility to fix it. The staff said she is going to tell the bar owner to keep quite. I went back to my room. About 10 minute later, the music stopped but the bar customers were still chatting loudly. I went to the front desk again but no more luck this time. They were gong. I had no one to ask for help. I even thought of calling the police. But the situation I was facing at was, there are no roads connected to the place where the police department located from where the hotel located (Wengen). I went to the bar to check what was going on and see what the bar owner can do. The owner was very rude. He even used "F" word during our conversation. Such a horrible, painful experience with this hotel. Ruined...

After reading the reviews on various sites, I decided to give this hotel a chance. That was a big mistake. I smelled the bad smell everyone talks about as soon as I walked into the hotel. I then got checked in and went to my room. I left after I dropped my bags so I did not look the room over much. When I returned and went to my room, I noticed the sheets were dirty and had hair all over them. There was also hair all over the floor. The front desk is hardly staffed so I could not complain. I turned the sheet inside out. That helped a little but there was still long black hair on it after I turned it inside out. About midnight a group of people came into the hotel to check in. Since there was no front desk staff they couldn't check in and were running up and down the halls and talking very loudly. This went on for over an hour. I barely got any sleep. The next morning I wanted to get an early start but I couldn't get any hot water to shower. I went to the front desk at 7 and the only people in the lobby was the family that couldn't check in. They slept in the lobby and all of their stuff was everywhere. I had to wait for someone to open the front desk at 8:30. I went to the restaurant in the hotel thinking someone would be there but it didn't open until late either. While I was waiting to get hot water, I was looking over my bill. I noticed I was overcharged when I checked in. After telling the front desk about it he told me he did not know how to give me a refund. He told me it was not that big of a deal and I needed to let it go. I asked him to give me the difference in cash and he told me he would not do that. I guess it was a big deal since he would not refund what he overcharged me. He began yelling at me and told me to leave without refunding what he overcharged me. Stay away...
