Good Italian food with reasonable prices for a high mountain tourist destination. Unfortunately, this restaurant is flawed by mediocre service. We visited this restaurant twice.
The first time, the serving team seemed haggard and understaffed but service was passable and friendly. However, we noted the staff had no tolerance for guest requests: multiple people in ear shot of us requested table changes or menu substations and were universally denied.
On our second visit, it was clear the staff forgot to put in our entree order - we waited over an hour for a vegetable pizza (with several gentle reminders from us) while tables seated long after our arrival received their orders all around us. The best we got in explanation was "sorry we are busy tonight."
Outdoor seating is available, but in high demand. Take out pizza is on offer (probably the smartest option given the above mentioned issues with service). Generous desert options. Good kids menu (although with pizza on offer it's hard to go wrong for kids). There was excellent live music on the terrace during our weekend visit.
Wine selection was good, beer was all bottled, minimal mixed drink offerings.
The restaurant is attached to a bar of the same name. The bar has a simpler but similar menu. However, we learned that the bar is not open during the summer season. That was not immediately obvious from their website.
Bottom line: I want Da Sina to be my go to family restaurant in Wengen, but it is marred by mediocre service and an inability to cater to its...
Read moreWe arrived for our reservation and all the staff (the owner and waiters) literally passed us MULTIPLE TIMES, while we were waiting at the door.
No one bothered to greet us or inform us that we will be attended to shortly. When we would prompt the waiters saying hello MULTIPLE TIMES, and they would look away or ignore us while we were trying to talk to them or asking what is going on.
To make things worse, we bumped into the owner at the train station and she bullied us in the middle of a busy station complaining about the other review we made saying that “it was just a five minute wait”- which is totally gaslighting the entire situation because it was not just a “wait”. They treated us as though we were invisible.
When we eventually got seated, the table which was for a “reservation” was very dirty and we had to wait for that too.
I’m not one to just complain but this was totally uncalled for and had someone just said “hello, welcome to our restaurant, please give us a short moment” all of this could have been avoided.
But now the owner had the nerve to gaslight us, in public.
Anyway. Don’t come here if you are not...
Read moreI am writing to express my deep disappointment with the service we received during our reservation at 8:15 PM tonight (a Tuesday). For half an hour after being seated, no one came to take our order, despite me asking multiple times for assistance. When our food finally arrived at 9:00 PM, four entrées came out first, and we had to wait another five minutes for the fifth dish. To make matters worse, our appetizer and the last entree were brought out at that same time, after the first four people had started eating, completely defeating the purpose of ordering an appetizer.
It took forty minutes just to be given water, which is simply unacceptable. The attitude of the staff only made the experience worse. When I went to the person near the pizza oven to request water, a waitress curtly told me, “No, you don’t ask them, that’s the kitchen.” This was not only unhelpful—it was outright rude.
Our friends had recommended your restaurant, but after this experience, I cannot in good conscience do the same. The food may have been good, but no meal is worth enduring such neglect and disrespect...
