🧀Swiss fondue is a national icon throughout Switzerland. A gooey, savory delicacy. Cheese is one of Switzerland's primary exports and is central to both the national identity and its cuisine.
#Fondue is a #Swiss melted cheese dish served in a communal pot over a portable stove heated with a candle or spirit lamp, and eaten by dipping bread, veggies n meat into the cheese using long-stemmed forks.

🧀Main ingredients: Cheeses, white wine, garlic, often kirsch #wengenswitzerland #wengen
#interestingfact 🧀 Fondue originated in Switzerland, as a way to use hardened cheese and stale bread during the winter months, so the traditional cheeses for making it are Swiss cheeses, mainly Emmental and Gruyère. The name is derived from the French verb fondre, meaning "to melt."
🧀We tried it over dinner at Wengen, @jungfraujochtopofeurope
🧀Would recommend it 😉 Bit Pricy but worth it!!!

Read moreIf I had to describe this meal in three words, it would be “absolutely freaking delicious.” I stumbled upon this restaurant because it was conveniently located under the hotel I stayed at, and little did I expect that the food would be out of this world.
FOOD Gnocchi tre Formaggi (5/5): WOW. Fig, honey, and walnut is my favorite salad combo, but it’s my first time having it in pasta form. Now, I feel like I was missing this in my life all along. Half Chicken (5/5): We got it with Honey-Rosemary marinade and Spicy Curry sauce, and it absolutely blew us away. The chicken was perfectly cooked and paired so well with the sauce and pickled onions. Only note is that the cornbread is actually a waffle. Crispy Roasted Potatoes (4/5): Perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Only note is that it would’ve been even better with some herbs and extra seasoning. Pear ice cream (4/5): What a treat it is to have homemade ice cream here! The pear flavor was wonderful and the portion size was generous. Only note is that the ice cream could’ve been a bit creamier.
DRINK Limoncello Spritz (5/5): So refreshing, light, and perfectly paired with enjoying mountain views!
SERVICE Everyone was so friendly and helpful. They were also very patient with my American questions and areas of confusion. Thanks so much for a...
Read moreThis restaurant, located inside the Victoria Hotel in Wengen, is beautifully designed with elegant decor—making it a lovely place to dine. We stayed at the hotel and had a package that included nightly dinners, which was a great perk.
The first night, there was a bit of confusion about seating since we didn’t have a reservation (even though, as hotel guests, we were told one wasn’t needed). Once that was sorted, service was smooth, and most of our meals over the next few nights were very good, sometimes even delicious.
However, our last dinner was disappointing. We ordered the ribs from the prix-fixe menu—being big rib fans, we were excited—but they arrived extremely dry, as if overcooked or left out for too long. My husband also ordered a beer that was supposed to come in a bottle, but it arrived in a glass with no bottle. When he asked the waiter about it, the response was vague: “I’m almost certain it’s the right beer” and “sometimes my colleagues pour it into a glass.” Not the most reassuring answer.
Overall, the restaurant has a lot going for it—great ambiance and mostly tasty food—but consistency in both food and service could be improved. We’d still recommend it, but with a note to double-check...
