We went here only because of the ratings and curiosity. Honestly, I still don’t understand how this place is rated above a 2. The experience we had was nowhere close to the praise online — it left us questioning whether those reviews were genuine or just family and friends boosting the score.
No Skilled chef Stale ingredients Poor Hospitality and service No consistency and balance in dishes Lack of authenticity of preparation
❌ How Golden Indian Failed Cooking: Chicken Bhuna was watery instead of reduced and flavorful. Chicken Tikka had no tandoor char, and the meat was unevenly cooked.
Ingredients: Even the salad and onions were stale, which showed a lack of care for freshness.
Service: Not the biggest issue here, but still lacked attentiveness. In truth, the first priority should be fixing the food.
Consistency: Different curries tasted like they came from the same base gravy with coloring added, rather than unique, crafted recipes.
Authenticity: Throwing in more chilies and pepper doesn’t make food better. And calling yourself North Indian while not serving naan or roti is laughable — these are staples, not optional.
💭 Final Thoughts Golden Indian didn’t just fall short — it failed on every front that makes a restaurant worth visiting. Poor cooking, stale ingredients, missing authenticity, and weak management.
We came in expecting something worthwhile based on reviews, but walked out convinced this was below par in every way and certainly not worth a repeat.
➡️ Bottom line: Golden Indian in Wengen was a disappointment from start to finish, and it will take serious change in the kitchen before this place deserves the ratings it...

I am sure you can find more satisfactory Indian food in other cities/countries. Given the fact that there is not many options in Wengen though, makes this place still a viable option.
The 3 main courses we ordered were different than each other, but except for Butter Chicken (which was the only food above average) tasted the same sadly. Not enough spices and the tastes were not enough. Especially thinking about the food amount and the tastes, we found the prices unreasonably high as well. But again, it's Switzerland Alps and sometimes some prices aren't reasonable at all.
There was a strange thing though. As soon as we got in, our son (knowing that we are in an Indian restaurant) talked continuously about his favorite drink, Mango Lassi. The waiter was kind enough to bring one lassi for him even before we ordered any food. We thought 'How nice, it's probably complimentary'. But it was not. They charged us for that lassi which they brought themselves. We didn't care that much as we were going to order it anyways. But please be aware that if you serve something without your customers ordering it, it feels like that is complimentary.
So, given the tastes, prices and strange attitude, it was a rather dull...
