The service is good, youre well treated staff is solid and very accommodating. We did get bathrobes, slippers, plenty of towels of all sorts, room service and soap and lotions were freely available. I saw a lot of comments here saying the pool wasn't heated : it is, it's just not a hot pool, it's a swimming pool, you have to move around to stay warm in winter. There is no seperation except a window/wall between the pool inside and outside, the wall doesn't cut it in half (see the pictures), you can swim underneath the wall and go to the outside part of it. Which means that the pool is heated both inside and outside, but in winter the outside part is covered and inaccessible. Which explains why they can't heat it that much, half of the heat goes outside, which is insane. We were indeed expecting something warmer, and it's a shame there was no hot tub or bubble pool of any sort available. The sauna and the hammam were good. The breakfast is awesome, plenty of cheeses, bread, sausages, bacon, scrambled eggs cappuccino on demand, croissants, pains au chocolat, yogurts, cereal and the waiters are lovely and very kind. We went skiing and the hotel has an arrangement with the station for cheaper ski passes, we got them at 59chf per day for dynamic day passes instead of 86 for the station, which was a great surprise.
The only negative point is simply value for money... Beware when ordering with booking, this was the first time getting a hotel room for us and we got surprised. We paid 400 CHF per night for a room with a balcony and bathtub. Very small TV on the wall, two armchairs and a desk with a coffee machine, and a double bed. The coffee capsules were 3 CHF each. Minibar beers went for 8 CHF a bottle. This isn't to say that it's not to be expected, a lot of hotels do this, but at 250-300 CHF a night ok, here we were paying 400, which feels like a bit much. Overall, good hotel, for 250-300chf a night sure, 400...
Read moreI do not recommend this hotel if you are a couple. We got two room, for 2 nights. Both of them had the view to the street. That would not have been a problem if the windows were actually isolating the cold and the noise coming from outside. You could hear everything that went on the streets, cars, people, etc. Mattresses had the shapes of canoes, meaning, or they are old, or someone had lied down on them for months and did not move, making their shape in the centre of the beds. Walls also felt paper thin. I could understand (80-90%) what the person in the other bedroom (wall to wall of mine) was saying.
Spa was totally disappointing, as the only thing I like doing in there is getting inside the pool. It was COLD. I have never been in a spa in Switzerland where they don’t leave the water at least at a comfortable temperature. The kids that were there were having a blast. Literally. I guess that was the purpose of the spa pool, since the kids were the only ones enjoying it.
Breakfast was very disappointing when compared to an actual 4-star hotel (almost everything was in that hotel). To be fair, the staff at the bar and at the restaurant/breakfast were nice. Location is also good and close city center.
Summary: do not stay there, specially if you need a good night sleep. Overpriced for what they are offering – supposedly a...
Read moreWe are a regular visitor to Crans Montana . We have loved staying at Hotel L'etrier any time the occasion has permitted. Our family also have stayed at Hotel L'Etrier several times. W have found the Hotel extremely family friendly and most welcoming. Rooms are very comfortable and their suites are just beautiful .||My husband and I stayed there last week and had a most comfortable and enjoyable stay there. We find that the Hotel has every comfort and facility available for us to enjoy our time. The barman was always around should you need to enjoy a glass of wine or a cup of tea or coffee etc. sitting in the bar area's comfortable sofas with magnificent view of the mountains. There is a nice heated Swimming pool and Sauna . ||We have found the staff friendly and helpful. Being mostly local, means that they are full of local knowledge of the area in case you will need assistance in exploring the wider area. ||For our very private meal there is a warm wooden Chalet located by the poolside which we could reserve for a meal for 6 (maximum 8 I believe) for lovely Grills, or a fondue Chinoise or Cheese fondue etc. This we have found in the past to be a unique experience for an evening dinner en-famille.||We shall go back there again any time . A great thank you to all at Hotel L' Etrier who made our stay so comfortable...
