Our stay at Porta Cervino was absolutely wonderful from start to finish. What began as an unexpected change in plans - when our originally booked hotel was closed for maintenance - turned into one of the most pleasant surprises of our Swiss holiday. The staff at Porta Cervino welcomed us warmly and made the transition completely seamless. The location couldn't have been more convenient for visiting Zermatt and the Matterhorn. Just steps away from the Tasch railway station, we could easily hop on the shuttle train to Zermatt in minutes, while enjoying the quieter, more relaxed atmosphere of Tasch. Having a Coop supermarket, several restaurants, and even a fuel station within walking distance made our stay incredibly comfortable and stress-free. Our room was spacious, immaculately clean, and thoughtfully designed with everything we needed. The beds were wonderfully comfortable, ensuring we were well-rested for our mountain adventures. We particularly appreciated how quiet the rooms were, allowing for peaceful nights after busy days of exploring. The breakfast each morning was a real highlight, with an impressive spread of fresh breads, local cheeses, delicious pastries, and excellent coffee. The dining area had such a warm, inviting atmosphere that we found ourselves lingering over breakfast each day, planning our excursions. Little touches throughout our stay made all the difference - from the helpful front desk staff who offered great local tips, to the convenient underground parking that saved us time and hassle. The overall attention to detail and genuine hospitality made us feel truly cared for. For anyone visiting the Zermatt area, we couldn't recommend Porta Cervino more highly. It offers exceptional value, superb comfort, and a perfect location - all delivered with that special Swiss warmth and efficiency. We left feeling like we'd discovered a real gem, and we'll certainly be returning on our next visit to the Matterhorn.

Beautiful hotel, DISHONEST STAFF We had a nice stay at the hotel, the room was beautifully appointed and impeccably clean. It was directly opposite the train station so this was very convenient for getting to Zermatt. After check out we realised two significant items had been forgotten in our room. My baby son's night light on the desk (about the size of a small loaf of bread), and an expensive, but more crucuially, sentimental diamond tennis bracelet. Over the course of a week of desperate correspondence back and forth, the hotel insisted nothing has been found in our room (I first notified them of the missing items within 2 hours or our check out/departure). We can understand the bracelet was very small and perhaps tangled up in bedding or linen, but the night light was definitely forgotten on the desk, and was quite large. So we can only assume the staff found one or both items and kept them for themselves. A police report was lodged and shared with the hotel and still nothing. Extremely disappointed in this experience which soured our journey and memories of Swizterland, particularly as the night light is a comfort item for my son and unmissable if left behind on the room's desk. GUESTS BEWARE. Photos are of missing items!!!

I LOVED this hotel. At first, I thought I had misbooked because we didn't pay that much (our stay was around June 14th), but it was a beautiful hotel. The wood floors, Nespresso machine, window overlooking the Alps, and spacious, beautiful bathroom were amazing. Now, as far as the town itself, there's not a lot to do, but we slept in, trained to Zermatt (15 min) and saw the Matterhorn. At the end of our day in Zermatt, we trained back, slept in our beautiful hotel room and paid a very good price. Personally, because it was chilly at night and in the morning anyway, we didn't go out until about noon. So for us, it was perfect to stay outside of Zermatt for a much lower price, great room quality, and a quick and pretty train ride to Zermatt. I really didn't feel like we missed out on anything by not staying in Zermatt. I HIGHLY recommend this place!
