I had a satisfactory stay in Just Sleep Hotel (Kaohsiung Station) for a night before transiting to Taitung. The hotel is located between Kaohsiung Main Station and Formosa Boulevard station. Since the former is currently undergoing reconstruction, it would be easier to walk to and from the Formosa Boulevard station unless you are taking the train.||We stayed in a family room. The room looked exactly like it was shown on its website. The room was, in general, clean and spacious. What I particularly liked about its design is that the toilet cubicle (equipped with a washlet) was separate from the bathroom (with both a shower and a bathtub) and the wash basin. By that, it means other roommates could use the other two even when one occupies any of the three. My only suggestion would be to provide more chairs in the room because two chairs would not be enough for a family to eat (say, takeaways or fruit) together in the room without one or two standing or sitting on the bed. As for sleeping quality, it's hard to be 100% soundproof since the hotel is next to a main road. And yes, if your room faced the main road and you are a light sleeper, you might hear the traffic at night. The lighting in the corridor was kept to almost a minimum. Elderly people might find it difficult to locate their rooms. It would be a lot better if it could be replaced with indoor motion sensor lights for safety, illumination and the environment.||Breakfast is served at its 2/F restaurant, which is one of the best vegetarian restaurants in the city. So, it's no surprise that there are both vegetarian and vegan options at the buffet breakfast. Yet, perhaps due to the many indoor plants in the hotel lobby and the restaurant, there were always mosquitoes flying here and there. Talking about food, there are plenty of restaurants around, and it's around a 5- to 10-minute walk to the Liuhe Tourist Night Market.||Most staff members are efficient and responsive. Both check-in and check-out were fast. Oh right, its self-service washing machines are out of service in response to the water rationing policy of...

Breakfast is a huge bummer. The hotel is advertised as a vegetarian hotel but there are MANY meat dishes on the breakfast buffet. HOWEVER, even my meat eating parents find it mediocre at best.
Vegan options are few and far in between AND bland. You will find toast, soup, salad, and fruits. I’ve stayed at many hotels and resorts in Taiwan, and this one is by far one of the worst. It might as well be a two star inn type of continental breakfast food.
Too bad since I booked this place solely for it being vegetarian. The other location has much better food options.
The hotel is not a short walk from the main station due to the construction especially in the constant heat. There isn’t much to eat around the hotel so you’ll have to Uber somewhere or get something delivered.
We have a two double bed room and although it’s roomy, it lacks storage space. No bedside table, no bedside phone charging stations, and no dresser. Certainly the room looks unfinished and it’s quite hard to keep clothes organized when staying for several nights.
The gym is a joke. It’s a room for one single bed turned into a gym of 3 machines. A treadmill and two stationary bikes. It’s not only awkward but also unsanitary being contaminated by someone else’s sweat. It also opens late- at 7am I am ready to end my workout.
The best feature of the hotel is the laundry room. Free laundry and detergent. Dryer is $10 per 10 minute.
Did not try dinner since breakfast is insanely bad already. Why would you pay 800 NT for some bland food when you can just Uber eat something much tastier and...
Read moreThe room I booked is supposed to be equipped with a bath tub and automatic bidet in the toilet. However, I was assigned a room with no bathtub and no automatic bidet in the toilet. When I checked with the reception, they said that it was because I had requested for the 3 rooms which I have booked to be located in the same level and this is the only available double room they have. However, I was not informed of this prior to my stay and was not given a choice whether to accept this downgrade or not. I certainly would not have accepted if given a choice. Obviously this was an unpopular room, where they likely dismantled the automatic bidet to replace damaged bidets in other rooms (signs of the automatic bidet being installed previously was apparent)When I requested for a room change back to the type which I have booked, I was only offered the change the next day, and I had to check out before 11am and check in again at 3pm. This hassle deterred us from the room change and we had to continue staying in the downgraded room reluctantly. Highly disappointed with the service here and I will never...
