Hub hotel was ok. We had 2 rooms over 3 nights. I understand this was a 3 star hotel so my expectations were as such but I have some reservations. The hotel is in a good location and it is very clean and well maintained. There is a lounge area on the second floor with free coffee and ice cream. However it is an old hotel. Many have mentioned how helpful and friendly the front reception staff were but we didn't have that experience. We came in at about 9:30 pm and checked in. We didn't eat yet so we asked what close restaurants would he recommend. We got the feeling we were bothering him. He said walk 3 blocks that way there should be restaurants around there. No actual recommendations, no street map. We didn't feel welcomed. A couple of small things that were maybe just annoying, in order to turn the lights, AC etc you have to keep the key card in the slot. However if it's not in the slot the right side up, everything just turns off after 30 seconds. We tried about 10 times and had to phone front desk. Another one is that you don't get individual rolls of toilet paper, you get in your room that big gigantic roll in the dispenser that constantly breaks off and you have reach inside to try to find the last break off point. So annoying. I think next time I rather pay more. You can be a 3 star and still...

Read moreThis is a well located budget hotel. Staff are friendly and efficient. The rooms are small but well equipped with a mini fridge, large TV, and modern bathroom. One downside is the double bed is fitted against two walls. The person next to the two walls has to exit the bed carefully and doesn't have a reading light. We stayed on two occasions, in both cases had interesting views outside the windows. There is a 24 hour snack bar with free snacks, coffee machine, and ice cream. The air conditioning works well. It's classic Taipei with surrounding neighborhoods being gritty and old fashioned or modern and beautiful. It's close to two Red line stations, there is a linear park along the path of the Red line, which is lovely, as are two nearby temples. Its close to many shops, markets, restaurants, and not far from the main station and heart of the city. You have to put your plastic room key in a holder to activate the lighting. There is also a power switch for the...
