This review is overdue but better late than never because Banana Hostel is one of those accommodations that are so good and such a joy to stay in that they deserve a show of appreciation.||||Hanging out with the staff at the end of a full day of seeing the sights around Taipei is a good way to unwind before getting to bed. They're all really nice and helpful. Do listen to their advice like how commuting around Taipei to see the sights is easy (no need to book a tour) and where the best beef noodle is (that's not touristy). It's one of those rare trips where the staff makes a difference and I feel that they enhanced my trip. Thanks again!||||Their location is simply awesome. The MRT station is right around the corner. Din Tai Fung is a block away. Beef Noodles are 3-4 blocks away. Taipei 101 is a few MRT stops away. The district is really nice and best for you if you prefer quiet and serene (and near really good food). I am a female solo traveler and I felt safe (it's really safe in Taiwan in general; I even trusted a stranger to help me navigate the trains to the north). Chiang Kai Shek Memorial is a block away. I also think the hostel is easy to find. The staff do provide you with maps and videos beforehand. Your landmark is Yoshinoya.||||Like what other reviewers have said, it is very clean and the kitchen and balcony are a big plus. The mattress is so comfortable I found it very easy to fall asleep, plus the privacy is great. I'd stay here again if & when I go back to Taipei and I highly recommend it...
Read moreI was here for potentially renting a bed at the mixed shared dorm because its located near my school and i plan to stay in Taiwan for a little longer and thought of banana living as a good way to save money and time based on location and rent and it looked very clean on the pictures. When i had the room viewing i was greeted by the staff although she was polite and showed me around. I reacted though that she was wearing flip flops and adidas shorts which personally did not find very fitting since she represents banana living. When she guided me around the building i noticed how tourned the interior is and the there is very bad smell that can be smelled from all the rooms inside the building. The mixed dorm had very moist, yet foul smell, i could orange dark stains on the madrasses. I have never lived at this area so it is hard to give honest review. But i felt that i had to write this one because the reason why i did not choose to live at banana living is because the rooms/beds they are renting does not like the ones in the pictures on...
Read moreBetween us, my wife and I both have traveled a fair amount across multiple continents the past several years. On top of that, on this trip, our friend who has spent most of her adult life in Europe joined us on this Taiwan adventure. I say all that to add weight to the following statement - we were all three of us blown away by the quality, comfort, and service found at the Banana Hostel. Their English was excellent, the perks (like what was provided for breakfast each day) very nice, the rooms very clean - actually, the cleanliness as a whole deserves some emphasis. The staff really worked every day to make the bathrooms, kitchen, bedrooms, and common areas clean, orderly, and comfortable. The lighting was great, the furniture comfortable, everything felt new and in good shape. The staff were very helpful and friendly. If you are traveling in a small group and need a good home base from which to explore Taipei, I can't imagine a better option than the Banana hostel. The staff here...
