Guide Hotel - Zhongli ZhongZheng — Hotel in Taoyuan City

We chose this hotel for a one-day layover in Taiwan before our trip to Japan, and we secured a very affordable room. Overall, I quite like it!

🛌 Room: This isn't a five-star hotel, but considering the price and amenities, it offers good value. I believe the hotel has been rebranded, as it had a different name embossed on something.

The design feels a bit old-school, but it's well-maintained and appears recently refurbished.

The Standard Double room, despite having no window, is a decent size. I actually enjoyed the lack of a window, as it helped me lose track of day and night for a restful sleep.

Surprisingly, the soundproofing is good. Amenities are decent, including hot water, a mini-fridge, a safe, a kettle, a TV, two seats, and a built-in hairdryer in the toilet. I also appreciate the provision of toiletries like toothbrushes, floss, cotton buds, a comb, shampoo, and body wash within the toilet.

🍱 Hotel Breakfast Breakfast runs from 6 - 10am and the window view oversees the city. Food options wise is quite aplenty from small portions of cooked and preserved food. There's also toasts and greens and some locally braised poultry if you're craving for something heavier and local.

🏢 Location: The location is a bit of a drawback, requiring a 15-minute walk from the nearest MRT station. But several food and restaurant establishments nearby helps. Nearest family mart convenience store is about 1...

Our experience with the hotel's toilet shower was disappointing. The fixed shower head sprayed water above my head, toward the wall, and the small bathtub allowed water to spill onto the floor, making it impossible to shower. When I brought up the issue with the hotel staff, they simply said they would inform the hotel since it was full, but no further action was taken.

It's clear that the standard of the shower head installation and bathtub sizes varies among rooms. Despite booking three rooms within the same price category, each had different shower heads and bathtub sizes. I recommend checking if the shower room meets your satisfaction upon entering.

Additionally, we were certain that we left our international multiple phone charger in the room after check-out. However, when we called the hotel a few hours later, they claimed they hadn't found anything. While it was our mistake to leave it behind, we've stayed at hotels where the room cleaning staff have gone above and beyond to help retrieve...

I chose this hotel as its near Taoyuan International Airport and I'm staying for one night before proceeding to Yilan the next day. But getting to the hotel was a bit challenging. The address listed on Agoda misled the taxi drivers twice, and I finally found the hotel using my own Google GPS.

The hotel is located within a mall, with the lobby on the 10th floor and guest rooms spread across levels 9 to 11. I booked a Japanese-style room for four people, with two king size mattresses on the floor. While the room was spacious, it felt a little dated. The bathroom included a bathtub and full set of toiletries for four, which was a nice touch.

The mall itself is convenient, offering a variety of dining options, including well-known restaurants like Saizeriya, Kura Sushi, Cocobar, and a Korean restaurant. There are fast-food outlets like McDonald’s, KFC and also local food stalls nearby.
