I was told this place has been around for a long time but that it's been recently remodeled within the last year or year and a half. We stayed here on the very first and very last night we were in Taiwan and were not disappointed. On the first night, we stayed in the smallest/most standard double room and it was not too bad a size. Modern design and the water was strong in the shower and the a/c was good too. The last night about 18 days later, we stayed here again but I was able to book a bigger room for less so I did. This one was the deluxe double room or something to that effect and it was significantly bigger. Very clean, and although the hotel does not provide a breakfast/snack/anything, it was still great value b/c it was close to the Taoyuan train station to get to the airport or the HSR and also close enough to busses. Just downstairs there's lots of shops from food vendors to clothing to essentials, you can just walk down to the lobby and out to the shops all along the several streets and get everything you need even if you don't have a car. Overall, it was a good hotel and we plan to stay here again if the price is right should we visit again in the future. My relatives who live Taoyuan said the location is excellent as it was convenient for them to pick us up and take us around and to drop us off. Only about 15-20 to the HSR and 20-30 mins to...
Read moreThis is a budget hotel in a budget district that packs a lot of value for your money. It is unassuming and inexpensive, but not cheap. Its standard room is a no-frills small room with just enough room for a double bed. Its toilet and bath is relatively more spacious but not by much. It has the basic small refrigerator and a pot for heating water for the usual complimentary instant coffee and tea. It has a comfortable bed, a regular sized toilet and enogh shower space to allow you to spread your wings, so to speak. The front desk is a one-man show but the housekeeping is superb. The room is cleaned thoroughly and unobtrusivey (you don't get to see the housekeeper and her tools of the trade parked in the corridors). Language is no barrier because the one-man Front Desk Manager has a phone with a translator so he can translate short conversations with foreign guests. Certainly, you will not need any dining facilities because it is surrounded by street hawkers and street vendors. In fact, you will be faced with an embarrasment of choices.||Just keep in mind that Central Hotel is a budget hotel and if you moderate your expectations accordingly, you will enjoy your stay in this inexpensive, but certainly not...
Read moreStayed here twice during transit to and from Europe. The hotel is approximately 25 minutes from Taipei airport (during the quieter times of the day) and the taxi cost approximately 670 TWD. The room was small but clean and comfortable and was very good value for money. The bed had a firm mattress and comfortable pillows. There was air conditioning, a desk, wardrobe, fridge, kettle, slippers, TV and walk in shower. Bathroom toiletries included comb, razor, shower cap, toothbrush and hair dryer. ||||The hotel is not far from a train station, family mart and 7 eleven. There are numerous shops in this area.||||The hotel staff were very polite and helpful. In this part of Taipei, I recommend the use of a translation app given limited English is spoken (including for taxi drivers). ||||This hotel was perfect for a short transit stay and very good value. Free wifi worked well too.||||Thank you for a...
