Miracolo is set right on Sun Moon Lake and many rooms boast stunning lake and mountain views. We stayed in one of the rooms with a bathtub that overlooked the lake and it was gorgeous! We probably took 7 baths in 2 days just because it was so relaxing and gorgeous.
There were a few things that I didn't think were worth the cost; our room was about 5k NTD a night, and for that price, you'd expect a certain standard.
THE GOOD: The staff was incredibly accommodating. I cannot say enough good things about the women working at the front desk! The view, as I mentioned is also incredible; the rooms are clean snd the bed was comfortable. There is a restaurant but we didn't eat there.
THE NOT SO GOOD: The hotel seems like it could use an update, as there are some old and broken parts that have been fixed "差不多" style. For example, some tiles in the bathroom had been taped back into place with clear packing tape, rather than being properly fixed. The hotel itself is beautiful, so to see things so cheaply or barely done was a bit surprising.
When we arrived at 9 am, we just wanted to drop our bags, but there was a misunderstanding with the woman at the front desk (btw, they say the staff speaks English; not really. If your Chinese isn't decent, it will be hard to communicate, but thankfully, we speak Chinese). The woman at the front desk called her boss, who then told her to tell us we could check in early if we paid 2,000 extra. The room was empty and ready, but they wanted us to pay 2k more on top of the 10k+ we were already paying. It was very awkward, especially as we'd not even asked to check in early, and it felt like we were being squeezed for more money. Perhaps it was a misunderstanding, but it didn't start things off great.
When we got to the room later, the bathtub had leaves or something in it, and there were no toiletries, not even hand soap in the bathroom. However, the ladies downstairs at the front desk immediately got the items for us when we mentioned it, with apologies, so that was nice.
Finally, this hotel doesn't have a shuttle or anything to get you into town, so if you don't have your own car or motorbike, getting into the main town for food/sight seeing is really hard. A bus stop is nearby, but at night time, the bus runs infrequently and there are NO taxis who will take you a short distance after 6 pm. We ended up renting scooters, but I'd suggest having your own mode of transport to stay here. They do offer free parking!
The tub and the view were incredible at this place, but I don't know that I'd stay here again. Overall, if you can get a good deal on a room with a view, it's a good choice, but don't expect too much. I think it's a little overpriced, but if the owners were to spruce it up, put some money into fixing it, and offered a little more service and higher quality, it would be a...
Read moreA peaceful, rarely buzzing hotel situated at the mouthpoint of SML District, 5 mins drive from the SML town, but a distance away from the rest of the ferry action. Since at the entry point, traffic will tend to be abit heavier, but rooms are well insulated. Even with windows opened, the noise did not at all cause a problem for sleeping, which I am quite sensitive to.||||Offers a view of the Lake from everyroom since no room face the back of hotel, and saying in a 4-bedder afforded us a bathtub jaccuzzi which looks out to the serene yet magnificent lake. Although a 4-bedder, it does not feel squeezed and there's plenty of room to move around with 4 Asian adults, with a day-sofa to boot.||||Comprehensive toiletries included for both sexes, and other than standard mineral water, a bottle of green tea was afforded to guests too, a small but nice touch. Toilets are of a good size, however the placement of the glass shower partition so close to the toilet bowl did pose a problem getting in and out.||||Staff are polite enough, but not too helpful nor knowledgeable. Breakfast included, typical asian fare of porridge and condiments, small stirfry dishes, fruits and continental breakfast variety all in the same room. Breakfast room was adequate during April, which I heard was low season, therefore space was not an issue.||||Popular with mainlanders, families, judging from the time...
Read moreConsidering the price with other hotels in this area, I would say the Miracolo is the perfect choice if you are traveling with your family and don’t want to spend too much for a night.
The location is not too close to the any town in the neighbor, but this gives you a really quiet night. If you are traveling by public transit, beware of the bus schedule. The latest bus from Shueishe town is around 5 pm. But don’t worry if you miss it, just make a walk through the trail along the lake, it only takes you 25 mins to get to the hotel from the town.
We got the room in the newer building, and every room comes with view of the lake. The photo is actually the view from the room without filters, and this is only from 3rd floors. You’ll get everything you need in the room. But there’s one thing to be noticed is the window wasn’t locked while we check in, make sure you lock it before going to bed.
The breakfast and restaurant are acceptable. Not too fancy but decent. The front desks are really friendly and polite.
I will consider this hotel for our next trip in the...
