New Mwanza Hotel — Hotel in Mwanza Region

After 30 years away from Mwanza, my family and I returned to see what it looked like. Imagine our join to find New Mwanza Hotel still in business right in the middle of town. I have vague memories of our visits there as a child, but you can see that the structure is old. They have tried to upgrade it, I suppose to meet with modern times, but the old feel still lingers through it. It was a great place to stop over for lunch with 4 over active boys all under 6 years. The waitress was very helpful and the other staff accommodated our very curious brood. While we stuck out as non-Tanzanians, it was great to be welcomed and treated like any other guest. It must have been a great hotel years ago but nobody took care on anything so it is quite run down by now. I would recommend that you check the functionality of a room (toilet, shower, lights) before you take it. They seem to be quite used to people doing this. |The sad issue is also that the staff tries to rip you off money. The room price is given in dollars, but if you want to pay in shillings they give you a very bad exchange rate.
