Equalia Boutique Hotel is conveniently located in Jambiani right on the beach and we absolutely loved the outdoors area Infront of the hotel with a great view to the sea. The breakfast choice was also great and the best we encountered in Zanzibar. However, the room was just unpleasant- although clean, it felt a little like a prison cell. No furnishings whatsoever (which we would expect in a boutique hotel), low bed and pretty much zero space to move. It felt a little bit like a storage room converted to a bedroom and rather claustrophobic- we did spent time in the room at all other than to sleep. Next to the hotel there is a building site which is not an issue except of the noise. There were multiple power cuts during the night and whilst we understand that the energy connectivity can be rather difficult in Zanzibar, perhaps generator should be available? There is no AC so when the fan stops the room turns into a tiny greenhouse. Just a heads up for those that want to get an alcoholic drink- this hotel does not serve alcohol, but you can bring your own if you want. The prices for the menu are all in dollars and paying $3 for a bottle of water whilst two mins down the road you can get a pack of 6 bottles for that price just feels excessive. The staff is very lovely and made us feel welcome but the owners are not interested in much other than their laptops ... On top of things, the hotel run out of running water during our stay which just should be better monitored for such a basic human need. The location is great and staff very welcoming but there is still a lot to work on for Equalia to call themselves a boutique hotel. Until such time, we cannot, sadly, recommend this place and deem it not a great...
Read moreI travelled with my elderly parents and our stay at Equalia Boutique Hotel was wonderful. Its proximity to the ocean is brilliantly close, you can take a swim and within a few meters you're back to the hotel watching life pass you by on Jambiani beach. Walking along the beach in Jambiani is safe and whilst there are some people selling items, with a polite no thank you, they leave you alone. We enjoyed many long walks and we also saw the magnificent sunrises whilst we did our morning yoga on a few occasions.|Breakfasts were included and were delicious comprising of fresh fruit, fresh juices, eggs, pancakes and bread. We also enjoyed the lunches and dinners, the seafood platter is divine as is the vegetable curry and rice. We also drank plenty of fresh coconut water, scooping out and eating the coconut flesh as well.|The staff at the hotel were incredibly kind, helpful and fun to be around. There are plenty of excursions that can also be organised for you. We didn't hire a car but took taxis which were very easily booked through the hotel. Paje beach and restaurants are a 10 minute ride away and worth a visit, the beach there is also stunning. We spent a couple of afternoons idling our time at Mr Kahava's where the food is also good.|Stone Town is 1.5 hrs away and definitely worth a visit. They management can also organise airport transfers upon arrival and departure.||There is more I would like to have done during our stay, it just means we have to come back again and I'd definitely stay at Equalia Boutique Hotel without hesitation. ||Asante Sana Equalia team, see you again sometime.|Varsha,...
Read moreNice hotel at the Jambiani beach. Great bar serving good food. At the pictures you can see English breakfast and guacamole tost with scramble eggs two different breakfasts.. Amazing people working there, but after some time in here you will get to know it is hard to find not nice people😁. Quite place where you can feel pole pole mood. Now for people who wants to have some drink you can't do it here but you can go out from the hotel to the beach turn left and go approx 300 meters. There is fantastic Zombie bar. Not very crowdy and actually hard to find so be focused but if you will manage take the beer or the drink in a fairly good price and enjoy the moment in pole pole. The owner Otini if you will manage to meet him you will never forget. The staff is great as well. Perfect place to spend great evening and night if you want😁 Last picture is the view from Zombie but be careful if you are going to come back after midnight the beach is under the water and you need to take the road through the village, bit...
