LA BASE b&b — Hotel in Unguja

This hotel is on the best beach I visited in Zanzibar (white sands, no rubbish, and the sea doesnt retreat miles from shore like in other parts of island, so you can always just go for a dip). The host Maria (whonis originally from Italy) is absolutely lovely, nothing is too much trouble, and the staff are really friendly and helpful too. The accommodation is very high quality. The only slight downside is the rooms are set back from the private beach access, so you have to put your shoes on to do the 90-second walk back to your room. But if you're looking for a relaxing beach break on a stretch of unspoiled paradise, Kikwengwa is ideal. You can also walk up and down the coast to all the other hotels, guest houses, bars, restaurants and activity centres for nice meals, drinks etc or to meet other expats,...

Excellent place to stay in Kiwengwa! My wife and I enjoyed every minute. Roberta is such a wonderful host and made us feel very comfortable from the beginning. She also made herself available and was so prompt with helping us with any problems or queries.

Roberta can also help with recommendations, airport transfers, tours and general taxi services. All our needs were taken care of.

Rooms are simple but very clean. There is aircon and good WiFi. We had the occasional drop out in signal but that is a wider problem with Zanzibar as a whole.

The rooms are about a 2 minute walk from the beach and their beachfront restaurant - which is also where breakfast is served in the morning. Service is good and there are sun loungers available on the beach which...

Abbiamo soggiornato presso questa struttura dal 21 al 30 dicembre 2023 e non potevamo fare una scelta migliore. Abbiamo usufruito del B&B, del ristorante e dei servizi offerti dal loro Junglekite Center. Partendo dal B&B: nostra camera era molto bella, ampia, rifinita ed accogliente. Si affacciava su un rigoglioso giardino e sulla piscina di cui approfittavamo tutte le sere fino all'imbrunire. Riguardo il ristorante posso solo complimentarmi per l'accuratezza della cucina, non c'è un piatto che non ci sia piaciuto, era tutto buonissimo, freschissimo ed abbondantissimo. Abbiamo festeggiato presso questa struttura sia il cenone della Vigilia che il pranzo di Natale e ci siamo sentiti come fossimo a casa. Mio marito ha utilizzato anche i servizi dello Junglekite Center e si è trovato benissimo per i consigli, lo storage e la compagnia dei kiters. Durante il soggiorno, tramite la Base, siamo andati a visitare Stone Town e la parte meridionale dell'isola (Paje, Jambiani, The Rock e Jozani Forest), tutto organizzato alla perfezione! Inoltre, per i kiters, ma non solo, la Base ha organizzato una giornata allo Secret Spot, un'isola la cui esistenza è legata alle maree, qui mio marito ha potuto surfare in un posto incontaminato. Fortunatamente alla fine del soggiorno abbiamo avuto un piccolo problema con un volo di rientro e ci hanno aiutato a risolverlo concedendoci di godere di un'ulteriore giornata in paradiso. Zanzibar è meravigliosa e la scelta di viverla appoggiandosi a La Base è stata la migliore scelta che potessimo fare.
