We used the hospitality of Magharibi House for the second time. The host of the resort is very nice and offers guests advice. The price includes tasty local breakfasts. If I were to end my review only with this, it would be a five-star rating. Unfortunately, the rest leaves much to be desired. The room with bathroom in which we stayed is not renovated on a regular basis. Bugs are coming out of the cracked tiles in the bathroom. The sink is so small that the water from the tap almost spills onto the floor. What's worse, salty water comes out of the taps. It's hard to wash or soap something. As for the area, it seems calm and away from all the hustle and bustle. Unfortunately, there is nothing wrong. During the day, children play football and make noise (if you rent rooms, you should separate the guest area from your own area), and at night there is loud music until late hours from nearby establishments and hotels (this is not the host's fault). I must add that the windows do not have glass, so you can hear everything. Overall, a very poor price-quality ratio. I recommend looking for...
Read moreMagharibi House is one of, if not the cheapest of places to sleep in Nungwi, so I hadn’t set very high expectations. But now I must say I was extremely pleased with this lodging place for several reasons:|1) the owner, Ahmad, is an excellent host and very personable, anxious to see to it that your stay is enjoyable. He gives great directions and unbiased information about surrounding restaurants and activities.|2) breakfast is delicious and all you can eat, made fresh for you by Abu, a very personable character. Includes a variety of fresh fruit in season, “doughnuts”, chapatis, eggs, and of course locally grown coffee and tea.|3) if you’re seeking an authentic local style room look no farther. I stayed in a Banda (hut) with a palm frond roof, bamboo lattice walls, and sand floor (mostly covered by mats). Fortunately there is a less traditional ceiling light and an electrical outlet.|4) only a 7-10 minute walk from the beach.|Cons: bathroom has no hot water and is separate from Banda, woodboring beetles in Banda wood, no sea...
Read morePros: Nice room, big bed with mosquito net and a private bathroom. Kitchen facilities with tv available for the guests to use. Very good breakfast is included, excelent service. Nice terrace to catch some sun and relax. There's clotheslines in front of the rooms. The owner and his family were also very helpful by welcoming us and providing us with info and advice about the location and surroundings. If not for the clubs, it would have a higher score.| |Cons: The biggest problem is that there are a few night clubs nearby and you can hear everything. There's also an alcohol shop nearby which makes it dangerous at night. Other than these big problems, there's some small ones. Windows let in too much light in the morning. Only a curtain separates the bedroom from the bathroom. Wi-fi is not always available. No AC, only fan. That wasn't a problem for us, but might be for others who stay here in...
