Baan Singkham Resort — Hotel in Chiang Mai Province

This hotel is a little hidden gem. We were a little nervous when we first arrived in Chiang Mia as we were left in the centre and no-one had heard of our hotel so we couldn't get there. Eventually a friendly taxi driver came to our rescue. It was night time when we arrived and we were tired, but the staff were incredibly friendly, although they do not speak very much English. This wasn't too much of a problem though. The grounds of the hotel are truly stunning, our room was nice too, fairly basic with no tea/coffee making facilities. The bathroom was a surprise, almost outside, and very unusual, I would have loved to have enjoyed it more than I did but I was too afraid of the mosquitoes out there! The mosquito net around out bed was very needed. Quite a few tuk tuk and taxi drivers have not heard of the hotel, but with the aide of a map, we always managed to get home. Aufgrund des rustikalen Badezimmers und des Whirlpools (Deluxe Doppelzimmer) buchten wir das Baan Singkham Boutique Resort für 3 Übernachtungen. ||||Mit einem roten Tuktuk ging's dann vom Flughafen für 200 THB zum Hotel. Das ist auch gleich der größte Nachteil der Anlage. Das Hotel liegt etwa 3 km nordöstlich vom Stadtzentrum entfernt. Gegenüber dem Hotel steht ein französisches Luxusrestraurant, in ca. 400m gibt's noch ein kleines, hübsches Thai-Restaurant. Leider können die Leute dort kein englisch. Die Karte des Restaurants ist nur in Thai verfügbar und die Bilder eher nichtssagend. Bis zum nächsten 7/11-Shop muss man dann schon mehr als 1km zurücklegen. Von daher sollte man das Hotel wirklich nur buchen, wenn man mit eigenem Fahrzeug unterwegs ist. ||||Die Angestellten des Hotels sind überaus freundlich und hilfsbereit und sprechen ein gutes Englisch. Eine Angestellte spricht sogar deutsch. ||||Beim ersten Frühstück bekamen wir ohne Vorwarnung einen großen Teller mit 2 fritierten Eiern und fritierten Würstchen. Leider können wir mit einem schweren, fettem Essen zum Frühstück ziemlich wenig anfangen. Alternativ gibt es Toast mit 2 Sorten Marmelade. Da das Frühstück schon am Abend vorher rausgestellt wird, ist die Butter eigentlich immer zerlaufen. Als Getränke gibt's Instantpulver-Café, Tee und ein Glas Saft. Leider müssen wir klar sagen, dass das Frühstück das schlechteste aller Hotels während unseres Thailandaufenthalts war.||||Das Zimmer entspricht normalem Standard und ist eigentlich ganz sauber. Die Klimaanlage funktioniert leise und gut. Ein TV und Kühlschrank ist ebenfalls vorhanden. Die Spezialität ist jedoch das Außenbad mit Whirlpool. Der Außenraum selbst könnte etwas sauberer sein, besonders in den Schrank will man eigentlich nichts reinlegen. Die Toilette, das Waschbecken und der Whirlpool waren jedoch anstandslos rein. Beim Whirlpool gab es leider kein warmes Wasser. An der Rezeption war niemand in der Lage, das Problem zu beheben. Also bekamen wir eine Plastikbadewanne, um das heiße Wasser von der Dusche in den Whirlpool zu befördern. Sowas sollte nicht nötig sein, da explizit mit dem Whirlpool geworben wird. ||||Das Hotel wird hauptsächlich für Hochzeitsfeiern gebucht. Die Anlage ist auch wirklich schön mit ihrem rustikalen Holzstil. Aufgrund der schlechten Lage mit den eingeschränkten Einkaufs- und Essensmöglichkeiten in der näheren Umgebung würden wir es nicht noch...

We stayed there when we visited Chiangmai, it was a small charming hotel quite like a resort retreat in the city. The location is not on the heart of activities, we had our own vehicle and it was convenient for us. We visited Chiangmai in July and it was raining almost everyday of our visit. The service was good, the breakfast was ok. The hotel is right next to Baan Gongkham resort, they both own by same family. The pool is very nice for the hot day and for the kids. The hotel is quiet, only negative is the mosquitoes in the bathroom. Well they try to minimize the mosquitoes and this is Thailand, a lot of bugs and insects are expected. There is the internet wireless connection available with the fee. Overall, i think this hotel is very charming and worth the price...
