A huge disappointment. We recently booked this holiday based on the outstanding reputation of the travel company we used along with the photos and descriptions provided, but the experience was nothing like what was promised. We booked a two bedroom pool villa, however the pool was not fit for purpose. The water was stale and stagnant on arrival, then we endured days of them trying to sort it leaving us without a workable pool for 5 of our 7 days. The accommodation was not as advertised – it was extremley dirty, one room in particular smelt heavily of damp and some furniture was broken, in general run down. Family friendly - not really if you have younger children as there is no shallow end in the pool. Children’s club is in a dark room at the bottom of a steep set of stairs. The location itself was unsafe, the door remained open and children from there had access to a filthy shallow water feature and the alcohol storage room! Movenpick boast about their chocolate hour being sheer indulgence - one glass of iced hot chocolate at the pool is what you got, that is if you wanted to get into the pool at that time. We complained about this and shared the Movenpick website details on what they advertised, staff seem genuinely surprised, two days later, they put on chocolate hour in the restaurant, which was a great improvement however it was just breakfast leftovers and shop bought junk food. There was nothing as advertised on offer. The location is this hotels best feature, it’s a stone throw away from a stunning beach which is accessed by crossing a very quiet road. Throughout all of this the manager was not available as he was on his own holiday and there was a lack of any deputy. The customer service was unhelpful not only to us but also to our travel rep when the concerns were raised. There was one member of staff who tried her upmost to sort things the best she could, but the offer of a massage or a bottle of wine was what she had been told to offer us as compensation. Even she agreed this was an insult given the situation. That manager did reach out via WhatsApps on the fifth day of our holiday but this was only after we said we would deal with the issues when we got home with our travel company. When we returned home and raised the complaint, the manager insisted to the to the travel company that he was dealing with us independently so refused to give them details. This was a complete lie, the level of his unprofessionalism was shocking. I would strongly advise others to be cautious before booking, it felt like a complete misrepresentation of what was advertised. Very disappointing.

Private Paradise in Phuket Our stay at the Mövenpick Resort Bangtao in Phuket was nothing short of exceptional. This luxurious beachfront property perfectly balances modern amenities with Thai charm and is specifically tailored for longer-term residences rather than short-term stays, as most suites come fitted with all the kitchen and required amenities for extended trips. The resort's lush tropical gardens create a serene atmosphere that washes away stress from the moment you arrive. The architecture beautifully combines contemporary design with traditional Thai elements, creating a sophisticated yet welcoming environment that made me feel instantly at home. LOCATION:The resort's location on Bangtao Beach is ideal - situated on a pristine stretch of white sand away from the crowds of Patong but still accessible to attractions. The beach itself is clean with calm waters that are perfect for swimming. Within a 10-minute walk, I found several local restaurants and shops in the Boat Avenue area. Phuket Old Town is about a 30-minute drive, while the airport is approximately 25 minutes away. DINE + DRINK: The PALM restaurant serves an excellent breakfast spread - with a good range of local, regional, and international cuisine that is worth waking up for! ROOM: We stayed in Room 1202, which was a ONE BEDROOM SUITE, so this review is based on that; SIZE: Huge enough space distributed into a massive Living area and a big bedroom area all of which were stylishy decorated; VIEW: Partial view of the Ocean and the other villas in front of it; AIR-CON: Perfectly functioning cooler that helped in setting the perfect room temperature; BED: Comfortable bed that played the expected part of putting us to sleep; BATHROOM: Good sized bathroom with a Stand-in shower; TOILETRIES: Good spa quality toiletries FACILITIES: A beautifully designed outdoor swimming pool designed in Balinese style that was quite huge (at least 40 meters). Compact Gym with a good range of weights and Cardio machines from TechnoGym that are good for a decent workout! SERVICE: Friendly staff that cared for all our needs with a smile and made us feel at home and well taken care of. Special Shout-out to the front office staff for enhancing our stay HOW WIRED YOU WILL BE: Free Wi-Fi that works well all over the property, and the speed is good! Two medium-sized Smart TVs (one each in the two rooms) dishing out a wide variety of channels spanning sports, news, music, movies, and entertainment in multiple languages

The good: Friendly staff Breakfast was generally good. Great service, real sausages (opposed to the 711 looking hotdog ones) 1 out of the 5 days Happy hour: BOGO on cocktails Spa: BOGO on massages, treatments etc Pretty much right the beach with great beach access Private pool is a decent size! Great shower. Room aesthetics are great, even known the room is aging a bit. The bad: Accor hotel but they are not part of the ALL membership, so no reward points or discounts. Spa in the pool wasn’t working (only realised on the final night so no biggy) Audio system never worked, again, no biggy personally No hot water in our bath, only barely luke warm. Toilet takes an eternity to finish flushing Most of the bad stuff is outweighed by the good, but we paid a decent amount for our suite, so that makes it slightly annoying. Overall: It’s great, if you like somewhere quiet and secluded. You don’t have much in the way of shopping around you, so be aware of that when you book (the closest convenience store, Tops, is 15 mins walk along the beach). There are some great restaurants on the beach though, notably Smigo’s. The gym is great with really decent equipment, as is the on-site spa where we had a fantastic massage. We really enjoyed our stay and would likely be back again if this Movenpick ever gets on board with All Accor.

A Truly Wonderful Family Escape at Movenpick Bangtao Beach Resort – With Special Thanks to Orlando!

Our family recently enjoyed a fantastic two-week holiday at the Movenpick Bangtao Beach Resort in Phuket, from the end of July into early August, and we were thoroughly impressed by the overall experience. This resort truly offers a wonderful setting for a family getaway, combining excellent facilities with truly outstanding service.

From the moment we arrived, the resort exuded a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere. The facilities are top-notch, catering perfectly to families with children. The pools were a particular highlight, offering plenty of space for both relaxation and fun. The dining options were varied and delicious, providing something for everyone, and the general upkeep of the resort grounds was impeccable.

What truly set our stay apart, however, was the exceptional level of service provided by the Movenpick team. Every staff member we encountered was friendly, professional, and went out of their way to ensure our comfort.

We must, however, give a special, heartfelt shout-out to Orlando. His attentiveness throughout our entire two-week stay was nothing short of tremendous. It felt like Orlando was everywhere, from morning till evening, always present and proactive in making sure all our needs were met. Whether it was at breakfast, by the pool, or during dinner, he was consistently there, anticipating requests and providing assistance with a genuine smile. Orlando is not only incredibly efficient but also extremely pleasant to talk to. He is a massive credit and an invaluable asset to the Movenpick Bangtao Beach Resort, and his dedication significantly enhanced our family's holiday experience.

While our stay was overwhelmingly positive, we do have a few constructive suggestions that we believe would elevate the guest experience even further:

Happy Hour Offer: The 2-for-1 happy hour offer is a great incentive, but it would be wonderful if this could be extended to include non-alcoholic drinks. There are many guests, including families with young children and individuals who do not consume alcohol, who would greatly appreciate being able to enjoy a refreshing mocktail or juice as part of this promotion. Room Upgrades: Our room was incredibly comfortable and spacious, providing a perfect retreat after a day of activities. However, a slight upgrade in terms of technology (perhaps more accessible charging points or updated entertainment systems) and a fresh lick of paint would truly bring them up to the highest modern standards. These are minor oversights, but addressing them would make a noticeable difference. Credit Purchase Offer: We found the offer to buy credit upon arrival a bit jarring. Being asked to make a significant financial decision on the date of arrival felt like a "gun being pointed to the head," especially when still settling in and not yet having a clear understanding of daily spending patterns within the hotel. We suggest either automatically applying a beneficial credit offer to encourage in-hotel spending, or at the very least, allowing guests a few days to settle in and understand their spending habits before presenting such a decision. This would create a much more relaxed and welcoming start to the holiday.

Despite these minor points, our family had an absolutely memorable and delightful holiday at the Movenpick Bangtao Beach Resort. We would highly recommend it to other families, and we sincerely hope that Orlando's exceptional service is recognised. We look forward to returning...

We recently stayed for 7 nights at Mövenpick Bangtao Beach Phuket as a family with a toddler. While there were some positives, we also experienced several disappointments that impacted our overall impression of the resort.

✅ What We Liked: • The room was large, clean, and very comfortable, which made a big difference for us traveling with a baby. It had everything we needed, and the space gave our daughter room to play and rest comfortably. • The environment is quiet, peaceful, and feels safe. It’s a good place to relax, and the facilities such as the spa and kids’ club were appreciated. • The beach is close and clean, and the grounds are well-maintained.

❌ What Disappointed Us: • Upon arriving at the hotel at 10:00 AM after a long journey with a baby, we were informed our room wasn’t ready and we would need to wait until 2:00 PM for check-in. The hotel was not fully booked, but the room was still not available, and no early check-in flexibility was offered. This was tiring and stressful with a toddler. • Our flight home was delayed by a few hours on the last day, so we requested a late check-out. We were first told the room was booked, but offered to move rooms for an extra charge. Then we were offered to stay in the same room — for a higher charge. When we declined both options, we were asked to check out at 12 PM. Later, at check-out, we were told we had been granted a free late check-out until 2 PM, but no one had informed us earlier. By then, we had already booked another hotel room elsewhere to manage the delay. This was extremely frustrating and disappointing, especially after a full week of staying at the hotel and spending significantly on meals, spa, and kid services. It left us feeling that the hotel was more focused on upselling than guest care and hospitality. • The breakfast was repetitive and very limited, with the same few options every day. The only day the variety improved was the last morning when the hotel was noticeably busier — which isn’t ideal or consistent for a 5-star resort.

In addition, there is no kids pool. which made it hard to manage with kids in the big pool.

⚠️ Additional Note on Location: • While the resort is peaceful and beachfront, it is quite far from key areas like supermarkets, shops, Boat Avenue, and most restaurants — especially if you’re with a baby or toddler. These places are not walkable, and you need a taxi or car every time you want to go out. For a longer stay, this gets tiring and expensive.

Final Thoughts:

The resort itself is lovely, the rooms are fantastic, and the peaceful setting is perfect for families wanting to unwind. However, the lack of flexibility and customer care at key moments, plus the inconvenient location and limited dining options, made our stay less than ideal. We hope the hotel takes this feedback constructively, as it has great potential to offer a much better...
