The hotel is not bad, but it’s definitely not 5 stars 😅. I’m not sure if the standards are different in Thailand, but many things seemed strange to me.
When we checked in, the room was dirty, and there were stains on the towels. We reported this, and the staff offered us another room and a discount on our next visit. This was a nice gesture, and the problem was resolved. However, overall, the hotel is small, as are the rooms, the beach at the hotel is dirty, the breakfast selection is limited, and I didn’t like that they didn’t allow me to take coffee back to my room, even when I offered to transfer it to a plastic cup 😂. I didn’t see a problem with it, but the staff seemed to think otherwise—maybe it’s a hotel policy.
There was a strange situation with the hotel slippers. When we were checking out, I took the rubber slippers, as we were planning to go to the water, and I thought it was great that the hotel provided rubber slippers. However, after we had paid and were about to leave, a man from the hotel approached me and asked if I had seen the rubber slippers that were in the room 😅. I said that I had taken them, fully confident that they were not reused between guests 😂. But that was not the case, and I was asked to return them, as the slippers are for communal use.
Of course, there’s nothing terrible about this, but I’ve never encountered anything like this at other hotels, especially 5-star ones 😅. Usually, hotels offer various products to their guests rather than taking back rubber slippers (for example, Soho House hotels provide an array of toiletries to suit any taste). I’m also genuinely curious about how they disinfect and reuse these slippers for future guests. Even if this is the norm for this particular hotel, they could have simply charged my card for the slippers instead of asking me to return them 😅.
Overall, I have some concerns about the hotel. I think they should consider raising their nightly rates instead of reusing rubber slippers in a 5-star hotel, or perhaps lower their standards a bit.
Pros:
The food in the hotel’s restaurant is decent, and the portions are large. I really liked the beach bar, but the beach itself was dirty. The view and the pool on the top floor...
Read moreI usually do not book a hotel in Pattaya because I have a friend whose house is conveniently located near everything interesting - to me at least - the beach, the hill, and other conveniences. In addition her house has a pool and located at a very prime location. Suffice to say, with the uncountable times I've been to Pattaya, Bayphere is the very first hotel I've booked here. It was recommended by a colleague who've been there before and since I have a friend from overseas who visited me, knowing her taste, I recommended her this hotel since my colleague put a good word about it. And boy oh boy.. I didn't expect that I'd love the place 🥰
So not to mislead or maybe misinterpreted, the location isn't very prime, it's at the inner somewhere going to Na Jomtien Beach. Kudos to our driver who was a really good navigator because we were surprised when we drove on an area getting there - we thought we're lost 😅 but nope, we're on the right track. Anyway, the area is currently undergoing some developments so please don't be surprised if from 'civilization' you'll pass by some under developed areas.
The room we booked also had some defects - yep, the chainlock suddenly fell down when I'm about to lock it 😱 A part of the door frame was chipped where the lock was screwed. We were seriously shocked because there was a cash deposit (refundable when checking out) upon check-in and I don't want to pay for something I didn't break. Good thing that the reception was very swift in solving the problem.
The hotel was not at the very front of the beach but there's a bridge to cross the mangrove and go on your way to the beach. There's also this infinity pool on the 8th floor where you can see the expanse of the sea and the islands nearby.
Not everything's perfect but the breakfast buffet for me is 10/10 🥰🥰 It's also the main reason why I'd like to book again for the holidays BUT the price for the dates I'd like to stay is exorbitant so it's a pass for now 😢 Might reconsider during their low season instead.
All in all, if you want somewhere far from the hustle and bustle and too much noise of Pattaya beach, hotels near Na Jomtien area is a good choice. Give Bayphere...
Read moreThe website and reviews make this appear a more substantial hotel. There is a second building in disrepair on one side which looks like it was connected. If you are unfortunate you could have a rather unpleasant view of this building. The location is beachfront. There is an area of semi- stagnant water with mangrove between the hotel and the sea, if you like that kind of thing. The roof top pool is very nice, but with around ten people it feels busy. Our package included an upgrade which the receptionist claimed on arrival was free, but had been paid for. We had also paid for additional meals that the reception desk seemed not to know about even though the offer came from the hotel website. Frankly, what we had as that extra today 'high tea', was only acceptable: a pot of tea and a few sandwiches and cakes. I'm hoping for improvement tomorrow.
Update after return home... The first night included two false fire alarms, one at 03:00. That meant my earlier comments were coloured by a disturbed sleep. At the same time, no comment was made about it except in conversation with a manager, who wasn't entirely sure what had happened in the middle of the night to cause the disturbance. Make of that what you will.
The breakfasts were good, plentiful buffet style with a wide choice, but a number of items on the bakery station were not replenished on the second day. Our package included a pizza and jug of beer on the second night, which was delicious, served in the Italian restaurant, and because my partner didn't drink alcohol a complimentary soft drink was offered, which was kind.
There were many Russian speakers at the hotel, and the entire area had many signs in Russian.
Overall, I would recommend the hotel as a 3 star, but not more, except for the food offerings, which were marginally better, although rather...
