⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Five-star hotel experience in Sriracha 🏙️🎎🚢 at the eponymous Cape Racha Hotel!
We chose to stay here recently for a weekend break in November 2023…having planned a trip to Pattaya we realized it was the weekend of the Pattaya Fireworks Festival 🎆 and decided instead to head up to Sriracha to enjoy some of the local cuisine, rather than fighting our way through the traffic and the crowds of partygoers and merrymakers down in Thailand’s Sin City.
Cape Racha, which opened in 2007, feels very much like a Grand Old Dame amongst Sriracha’s downtown hotels. It is a large hotel with two wings🏢🏢, and has the atmosphere of one of Thailand’s classic hotel properties. Many of the guest rooms as well as the common areas have been renovated recently: our room in Wing 2 felt brand-new with a new Carrier AC unit and new bathroom fittings.
We thought that the facilities at Cape Racha were absolutely top-notch! Both wings of the hotel have a pool🏊🏽 and a well-equipped and well-maintained fitness 🏋🏽centre. We particularly enjoyed the rooftop pool on the 12th floor of Wing 1 which offers scenic views of the bay and Koh Loi. The breakfast buffet was also pretty good, and included some Japanese options such as rice with a choice of furikake, pickles, natto, miso soup with different toppings etc. in addition to the usual bacon, eggs and salad bar. The F&B staff here have to work hard during breakfast – we were joined at breakfast by a large and lively group of Korean golfers🧑🏽🦯, and it was difficult for the staff to keep up with clearing tables and replenishing the buffet at times (perhaps the hotel management could hire 1 or 2 additional staff if the budget allows for this?).
Sriracha itself is a town with a bit of a mixed reputation. It is foremost an industrial 🏭 town and not a tourist hot-spot, there is a perpetual traffic jam on the narrow winding streets, and it is generally a bit grim. It does have a certain charm though, with a pleasant coastal promenade 🏖️ and a smattering of historic and heritage buildings. There are a lot of good restaurants, bars and coffee shops in the downtown area, so rest assured you will not go hungry if you visit! Within walking distance from Cape Racha, recommended options include Hanbe Japanese Restaurant, Nai Bun Noodles (especially for Pad See Ew with crispy noodles) and Sensu Café for a coffee ☕ or beer🍻.
2024 Update: We visited again recently in Feb 2024. The hotel is quite busy at the moment with a number of golfing groups and also a conference group of medical professionals from Bangkok. The hotel management and staff are doing a fantastic job accommodating all the guests during breakfast, and managing the check-in and check-out processes. Since the last visit there are now more staff working on the breakfast buffet and they have also extended breakfast times. Overall the experience was excellent as always. Local dining recommendations from this trip: Haji Saroj Thai Muslim Restaurant for biryani, Tom Chan for syokudo-style Japanese, HOBB for coffee, rGoal for coffee and light meals, Tsukeman Jo for ramen, Yakiniku Kakurega for...
Read moreWe were here on a short 3-day vacation just a few days after Songkran Festival. But actually, this is the 3rd time our family stay here, let alone a trip before that we stayed at Kantary Bay, Sriracha too.||First, let us thank you to all helpful and supportive staffs, especially Khun Jureeporn (จุรีภรณ์) and Khun Thitikhun (ธิติคุณ), who were being so responsive and service minded since our very first reservation until this one.||Reasons that we choose to re-visit Cape Racha Hotel are abundant. First, the room is nice, clean and homie-decorated. As, beside a hotel, it's also a service apartment, so you'll usually get a tiny and usable kitchen within the room that you can cook a quick meal if you feel like to. But, second reason, they also provide a high quality and tasty meal in all breakfast, which is usually in a Japanese style and included in the room price, lunch, and dinner.||They also have a lovely buffet dinner offered for around ฿5xx per person. We tried the international buffet and steak buffet at Kantary Bay before, so we're quite certain that they serve a good-quality buffet here too. That's why we had Cape Racha's Mediterranean buffet this time, which is only for Friday night. And it was fantastic! The seafood is fresh. Nice Italian corner where they serve many kinds of pasta and pizza. They also offer many kind of selective wine from various country.||Common facilities are great. We usually spend hours in their swimming pool or fitness almost every time we're here.||Definitely come back again on...
