We had previously never stayed in Oakwood chain; this was our first time and the experience was not so good. Oakwood Sri Racha calls itself a 5 star hotel. I would describe the facility as 5 star, but the maximum is 3 stars for the service.
The first impression was disappointing. We had requested a baby crib, but it wasn't there when we arrived. So, tired after the long trip, we still needed to call and wait for the crib to arrive. A five-star level of service should have had our request ready before we checked in.
The main dining room staff were unable to keep up with the service during the busy periods, such as company conferences or holiday weekend. The dishes are everywhere, they could not clear tables fast enough for the guests still waiting. My friends who came to visit me have previously stayed in a 3 star hotel in Pattaya which regularly hosts Chinese tour groups; they said the other hotel's dining staffs had it all covered, unlike the clearly overwhelmed dining staff at "5 star" Sri Racha Oakwood.
There are cockroaches in the room. I saw them twice, during the second week and last week of our stay. The pictures were from the 2nd time.
However, it was not all bad experiences
Most staff were very friendly and helpful but unfortunately, still could not keep up to the level of 5 stars service expected.
Breakfast was good, variety and got a lot of compliments (when you actually can eat it, not during long weekend or big conferences).
The room was spacious, with a kitchen, and sitting area with a comfortable sofa.
There were friendly staff who come talk to me and when I mentioned my concerns, especially the main dining hall manager who took it seriously and brought it into the management meeting. He deserves to handle 5 stars hotel level. I got a formal apology letter & in person apology. He made me feel good that he did care about the customers.
Here is the most upsetting part :
Before leaving Thailand, we decided to try the hotel rooftop resturant (Atara Sky). It had good views and good service. Food is okay. Poorly managed.
Nobody knew about our reservation; we had asked for a table with views and ended up with an inside table. We needed to look for the table ourselves.
Based on a promotional display inside the hotel lobby, we asked for a 10% hotel guest discount. The display was in the lobby from the day we checked in. But when we asked for the discount, nobody knew anything about it, and we ended up paying for the full price bill.
We asked the main dining room manager about a refund the next morning; he was very apologetic and promised to raise the matter with the Atara Sky manager. We never heard back from the Atara Sky manager, but the promotional display disappeared by the following morning.
We asked again, via the hotel front desk staff, on the third afternoon. They called the Atara Sky manager, who refused the refund, despite the fact that we showed a picture of the discount brochure. Again, we did not hear from the Atara Sky manager, who left it up to the front desk staff to call us with the bad news.
The restaurant is not honest with its customers. We have no desire to ever return and or recommend anyone we knew to come to this place.
We left the hotel without ever getting that refund. We no longer care about getting the refund for ourselves; we would actually be more happy to have the money go to the main dining hall manager and the hotel front desk staff, as they actually tried to be helpful. Also, they were all placed on the spot and forced to apologize for someone else's decision; the Atara Sky manager apparently did not have the sense of responsibility or the moral courage to deliver bad...

Service is lacking. House keeper didnât clean the room properly especially the toilet bowl. Poop is seen splashing inside the bowl It was down right gross. The wood floor feel dusty. The drawers feel dusty. I checked in late in the day and plan to stay only a night so all I could do is ask them to clean the toilet again not the the whole room since I already unpacked. The doorknob on toilet room is wobble. There is a pen but not a note paper to write on. There is no slippers. The kitchen only offers tea/coffee maker and cups. The utensils and any other things will need to be asked specifically. Seriously I would need to go item by item to get stock up? Late at night I got a call to my mobile from the hotel asking that I still be checking today or not?!? I already in the room and they donât know? At night, I didnât get good rest. The air conditioning which is very close to the bed, blew at uncomfortable distance directly to my head and thereâs no way to adjust it to other direction. The mediocre breakfast end my stay.
On my second visit I got same room and the room has been fixed. Over all stay was great.
On my third visit I stayed in 2 BR apartment and it was very big and comfortable for four people. We got corner room so the view was excellent. I enjoyed sitting at the balcony from one of the bedroom taking in the view and the breeze. Excellent stay.
The facility here is new and good design. Plenty things to do inside the hotel if you choose to stay in. Food still pretty bad though. And staffs are inexperienced. Housekeeping is the weakest area of this hotel. You must double locked your room to avoid them unexpectedly go in your room when youâre in there. Room service & HK are on standard & full of service mind ð Car park - sufficient space & convenient. The staff who collects the car park ticket is ð. I asked for the way to access to lobby. He is nor only give direction by word or hand but also leads me to the way & urges back to his station. ðĨðģâ Food - Buffet line is superb, Variety food per target market of guests, great taste, well present and the most important is you have friendly & attentive staff and chefð congratulations. Very interesting daily promotion too. I wish I could stay for a week ð Roof top outlet - Great service ððð nice, fun and professional staff. They know what they are doing. Our family went there before sunset till late night enjoy music (good attempt for the song we requested - Thank you. Recreation facilities are variety, suitable for family, group but well manage for private guest booking ð Library are fantasticâĢ Lots of interesting books however if add on computer or laptop would be nice. ðïļââïļ gym also good function, acceptable equipment (1 fitness staff available) plus quiet yoga studio (Adding more proper yoga matts would be great) âĻïļ ð Onsen & karaoke are the things guest should early booked.
Overall - no doubted with many awards the hotel received & congratulations on your Standard control, staff selection & training programme ððžð We would love to come back again âšïļ
