Sugar Cane Guesthouse 2 — Hotel in Kanchanaburi Province

The rooms are good to stay if you want a quiet holiday. The raft rooms have a good view of the river and the price at around 500 baht was reasonable. The raft rooms sway as there are speed boats passing by every now and then which you may like or not like, however its a different experience. The balcony is good to sit and sip a drink however we couldn't use much of the balcony in the night as there were a lot of lizards on the ceiling in the balcony at night and there was no way to close the door of the room from outside. Therefore, we had no choice but to not use the balcony as we didn't want the lizards to get inside the room. The room itself is very simple and clean, the bathroom too is clean. There was AC but no TV. The staff especially one of them was indifferent several times and they wouldn't stand good if I had to rate them on hospitality. All in all, you can have a peaceful one time stay here but not a place to be visited...

When I visited Sugar Cane Guest House I found the staff to be helpful & informative. There is a choice of staying in a raft room where there are lovely views of the river & beyond or staying in a small cabin like room. If there are noisy people next door then not good for an early night as the walls are paper thin. For me it was good value for staying & eating as I was out & about most of the time. The river disco boats are also part of the noise, so avoid if you are after serious peace & quiet. Lots of little geckos darting around & mosquitoes are rife, so not so good if they find you tasty. For the price, the overall stay was OK. We stayed here for two nights. We went for the cheapest option, which in terms of room quality showed. The bed was fine, but the bathroom required some renovating and was not really clean. In addition, at the front door we suffered from ants.
