Blue Palm Residence Kata — Hotel in Karon

Really disappointed in our stay here! As backpackers who have been travelling for a while, we have found the hotels in Thailand to be very welcoming and hospitable. This hotel did not meet this service standard at all.

When we arrived, we weren’t welcomed- we weren’t helped with luggage, we were simply walked in silence to our room and handed the key. Our first night was good, although there is no hot water in the tap and shower.

Our second night, the air conditioning stopped blowing cold air, and if you’re anything like me you can’t sleep if you’re too hot! As a result, we have had zero sleep- despite even reversing the bed to be nearest to the air conditioning, which had no effect as the air itself was not cool. Nice quiet location and very helpful staff. Rooms are spacious and clean but there are a couple of issues: mosquitos are able to get inside your room because the sliding door have a gap even when they are closed. Expect to have 4-5 mosquitos everyday in your bedroom. No extract in the toilet/shower room+ distinctive smell of sewage from the shower/sink. This was a major issue for me and forced me to change the room which also smelled bad. No extract fan in the shower is a major construction flaw. I just want to highlight that everything else was perfect and rooms were super clean and staff was amazing - only problem with mosquitos and the smell. Hope you can resolve these issues...
