Red Chair — Restaurant in Karon

We have tried multiple restaurants in the Kata beach region and this one was by far our favorite. We have been here 3 times (!) and tried different dishes during our vacation, including Som Tam, Pad Thai Gung, Laab Moo, Tom Yam with Sea bass, mango sticky rice or prawls in tamarind sauce. Each dish tasted great and authentic Thai in terms of flavors, ingredients, as well as food consistency. We have ordered the low spicy versions though. The price is totally acceptable and good for what we got (~100-200 Baht per dish).

The service was great, fast, and friendly. The waiters can speak English well. The dishes came often within 5-15 min even during busy times.

The decoration and ambience are simple but nice. I cannot say anything about the rest room because I did not use it.

This restaurant caught our attention in Kata, Phuket not because it was halal, but how the staff fully supported us and understood our need, they made us feel welcome and comfortable. One of the staff, unfortunately, we forgot to get her name, who was very friendly and accommodating. They assured us that, they will prepare our meals in a halal way and separately, as we were Muslims and we ordered Sea Food meals. It was specially prepared for us, well prepared and made us feel special. We thank the management for hiring such friendly staff, who had smiles in their faces. Stayed at a nearby resort while on a vacation with friends when we incidentally walked up to this restaurant. For a group of young black men, we didn’t know what to anticipate regarding how we would be received, however, the place was charming and the staff/service was beyond excellent! We ended up coming back a few times during our seven-day stay in Kata, for the impressive service - we didn’t wait more than 5 minutes for our food orders!
