The hotel is about a 50 min drive from the airport. we had a private taxi transfer as part of our package so couldn't tell a price. The taxi drivers were brilliant and friendly.
The hotel grounds are lovely, and reception is stunning, kind of inside/outside vibe.
We had a room on the side of the original hotel. Spotlessly clean, nice room, big enough for two people for two weeks, plenty of space. Plenty of shampoo/conditioner and a hairdryer provided. Pool towels also provided.
Breakfast 6.30am.-10.30am, big enough area and lots of tables, etc, again inside/outside which is lovely as there are birds and mini ponds with lilies. staff again brilliant and friendly. The food was always nice and plentiful. Yes as others have said, it's not a traditional selection, but more a mix of Asian and European.
Pools we only visited the smaller one as it was part of our building (we visited the beach most days as it's so close) there is a bar that was staffed and sunny area so the day we did spend there was nice.
Area, we walked a lot, the beach is literally over the small rd, the restaurants along the small strip just outside the back entrance were all great. We also went out to the front entrance there are also some nice restaurants and pubs along the main Rd. We never had any problems with the security they were always lovely and friendly, opened the gates when we approached, and said hi as we passed them. Very close to everything.
Few little niggles,
The smell of the drains (throughout Phuket also) in the bathroom was quite bad, we mentioned that the sink was blocked and the lovely cleaning lady managed to unblock it and the smell got better. The bathroom its self was clean but no window so natural light in a quite dark room made getting ready rather difficult. Our TV went out and we mentioned it to reception and was told signal throughout the hotel had gone down and an engineer was there to fix, we had to mention it again three days later as it was still not working and it was fixed while we was at the beach.
Pool is open 10.00am, we felt that was rather late especially on our last day as we had to vacate the room at 12 (couldn't accommodate a late checkout) and we wanted one last swim before a shower and packing our bags etc.
Towels, no hand towels just bath, pool, and flannels.
Aircon, worked fine but think the filters needed either cleaning or changing as there was sometimes a pungent smell when it had been running throughout the night.
There are some flip-flops part of the room, we used them so thought they were OK to take, we were asked for them back when we got to reception which was fine but was told they reuse them (had I known this I wouldn't of used them)
All in all we would stay again if in the area, so would recommend this hotel, we feel the original part of the hotel while lovely is more a 3 star and the newer part of the hotel is...
Read moreWe stayed in jacuzzi room. I want to like this hotel stay, however there's too many things i didn't like. Compare to similar 3-4 stars at cheaper or about the same price in Karon that I used to stay, here is also worse. I wouldn't come back and wouldn't recommend my friends staying here.
What I like: It's beautiful. A jacuzzi outside, bathtub inside, and shower outside. The room is spacious.
What i don't like: The room are not clean. I can see a lot of dust on the telephone, lamp, mirror, chair and table. Also there is beer can under the bed (Meaning the housekeeper dont clean and check the room well before new guests arrive) (Hotel) So much mosquito though we never leave the door open and that we killed many each day. (Room) The door lock is bad. It locked us out once. We dont trust there door lock that we don't close the door fully anymore when we go out. (Hotel) Only 1 key card is provided to access room and to activate electricity. Thus when i leave the room, i cannot keep the ac on. (However additional key cards are possible, ask reception) (Hotel) Wifi is so bad so slow. I end up using my own mobile internet all the time. Using phone hotspot for laptop. (Room) The tv is old. Not smart tv. And because it's old I cannot even plug in hdmi. It's already rusty. (Room) Lack of electricity outlets near the bed. There's only 1 outlet on each side of the bed. I have to choose whether to take the bed lamp plug out or charge my phone. 1 more outlet near the kettle. That's it. Seem like hotel afraid im gonna charge my phone and waste their electricity. (Hotel) Approached by a security guard. I understand the hotel doesn't want people to trespassed. But the guard has to do better to not offend the guests. (Room) so many millipedes coming from outdoor showers. We found at least 3-5 of them every day in the bathroom and bedroom. Doesn't matter I close the door because there is a gap at the bottom of the door. (Hotel) breakfast is quite bad for a large 4stars? hotel in Thailand. One day we stayed, people just opened and looked at the food they had and almost all of them just got eggs, because that's the only thing that seems to be eatable. We stayed 5 nights and we skipped 2 bf because how...
Read moreOnce we arrived at the hotel, we got the wrong room assigned. We booked the Sino Wing jacuzzi room for 5 nights and we were told it wasn’t available anymore. We contacted the Trip customer service and the last person that helped us got told our Sino Wing room was under maintenance. The next day we went to the frontdesk and the receptionist also stated the room was under maintenance. We stood our ground and then the manager showed up, willing to show us the Sino Wing room so we could choose if we wanted to move or stay in our ‘upgrade’ (a family room with pool view isn’t an upgrade in our opinion since we’re a couple looking for a relaxed holiday). We chose the room we booked and we were able to move to our room after 2 nights in the Serene Wing. Staff was nice, room was cleaned daily, but those are the only plusses we can give this hotel. Not even worthy 4 stars. Linen was stained, wifi was very poor, breakfast wasn’t worth it. Make sure to bring your keycard when going outside of the resort, because the security guy will definitely scream at you when you can’t proof you’re a hotel guest. Because we had to sleep 2 nights in the wrong room we received coupons for 2 free dinners at restaurant Chili. We could only choose from set menu’s and had to pay for our drinks. We never had such a bad restaurant experience. Drinks weren’t served at the same time (cocktail was served first and we had to ask for the ordered water after 15 mins of waiting). We were the only guests, so it wasn’t like they had a lot to do. All courses except the dessert were served at the same time. So imagine having a table filled with soups, appetizers and mains but no rice or anything. That needed to be ordered separately. We left before we got our dessert and we never went back to redeem the other coupons. If you like spending your holiday amongst thousands of tourists, Karon is the place to go. If you prefer a quiet holiday,...
