This is a tough review for me to do. We were at this establishment several days and it started off poorly so it did leave a little sour taste in our mouths. |I’ll start with the good. Many people reviewed this and used the word oasis. Totally agree. Well maintained landscaping, generally quiet and relaxing. The staff overall were very good. Friendly and courteous. We only had breakfast there and it was good. Not a lot of selection since it is menu but you don’t need a lot of choice if what they serve is well prepared. |Now the not so good. Upon check in we were taken to a room. The porter left and my wife and I looked at the state of the room. It was the washroom that was not maintained well. Mold in the shower…very dusty… and the access to the ‘balcony’ was through the bathroom. There was some mold on the walls although not a huge amount but some. The light above the shower was not functioning. These were not expected from we consider a 4* hotel. I went to the desk to express our concerns. The young lady offered to send someone up to look at the shower light. I felt that the concerns for our health regarding the mold were not heard. We do not like anyone in our room if we are not there (not just this hotel but everywhere we travel) so I declined the light inspection. I returned to our room and unpacked. Later that day my wife sent a message to our tour operator letting her know of the issues and that she should perhaps consider not using this hotel in the future. |The next day we were met at the desk upon the return of our daily excursion and were advised that there was a room that we could move to. We asked to see it. The room was much cleaner and had a balcony that was not overlooking an alleyway. We then repacked and moved. From then on the experience was better. Unfortunately due to the lack of care regarding the other room (what we perceived ) the experience was dampened. We did have to leave a day early so we gave them almost three days notice. They would not refund the extra day stating their published cancellation policy. I work in customer service and understand policy’s. Given the situation we experienced, I would have expected the manager to understand but it seemed quite firm. |They do have a pool but the tiles looked in disrepair. We found that there was also a sewer smell but I do not think that was on their property so sitting by the pool did not seem like an option. Yes there are roosters. Not the only country that has that near a hotel. Not a bother. On the flip side, quite nice to hear. It is a bit off the main streets so the road noise is very small. |Overall, would I go there again? I am not sure. I will not advise others not to go. If the hotel would like to reach out they have our...

Read moreAriyasom certainly has a charm that comes from its history and atmosphere. However, that charm is overshadowed by serious issues that make it difficult to justify the price for what is presented as a four-star hotel.
I came here because the vegetarian breakfast was said to be well known, but the reality was far below expectations. The food was plain and uninspired, with no sense of reinterpreting traditional Thai vegetarian cuisine. There were not even proper vegan options, which feels out of step with today’s standards.
The bigger problem was the facilities. The beautiful Thai antiques and oriental décor did create brief moments of escape, but the reality behind them was disappointing. Rusty water came out of the taps, and at night the electricity went out, shutting down the air conditioning. I woke up hot and restless, only to realize that my phone and power bank hadn’t charged. For a hotel that positions itself as four stars, such things are simply unacceptable.
I also had a Thai massage on the outdoor terrace, but for the entire 60 minutes I had to endure city noise and the smell of food drifting from the neighboring building. In such an open space, the experience was far from relaxing and honestly very disappointing.
The staff were kind, and their warmth did ease the disappointment to some extent. Still, outdated facilities, an underwhelming breakfast, and an unsatisfying massage experience cannot be covered up by friendliness alone. Moreover, the quality of hospitality varied from person to person, which made the experience feel inconsistent.
Breakfast, massage, and even the spaces themselves offered no real “wow” factor. The hotel seems to lack self-awareness, and while the human warmth of the staff is deeply appreciated, it cannot compensate for all of these shortcomings.
That said, I truly appreciated the hospitality of the staff who stored my luggage after checkout and looked after me attentively throughout breakfast. Those moments of care were memorable and will not be forgotten.
Ariyasom seems stuck in the glory of awards won more than a decade ago, rather than moving with the spirit of the present. Without real investment and innovation, it is difficult to recommend this place.
If you are looking to experience an old Thai vibe, it may be worth a visit. But for those expecting modern comfort and reliable quality from a four-star hotel, I cannot...
